If I have a one-week breakout of herpes are the chances that it's hsv 1 on the genitals?

If I have a one-week breakout of herpes are the chances that it's hsv 1 on the genitals?

Some chance: Most herpes in this area is type 2. Sometimes type 1 is transmitted by oral contact. Most people already have type 1 but do not experience any symptoms. If you already have type 1, then a new infection must be type 2. You should have been given an oral therapy at the start 1 week ago. You can be tested to determine if you have hsv1 or 2 or both. You should see a Dr for expert advise about herpes a ...Read more

Please help! I am on Depo-Provera shot and took ella (ulipristal acetate) contraceptive on the 5th day I was told I have more chances of getting pregnant on the next 14 days?

Please help! I am on Depo-Provera shot and took ella (ulipristal acetate) contraceptive on the 5th day I was told I have more chances of getting pregnant on the next 14 days?

No.: I'm not aware of this. Both methods aim to inhibit ovulation. If you get Depo Provera every 12 weeks (3 months) and you also took Ella (ulipristal acetate) within 120hrs of unprotected sex, your chances of pregnancy is very slim. If a healthcare provider told you this, I would clarify with them and ask for some literature that supports the claim. Take care! ...Read more

I had unprotected sex but my parter did not ejaculate inside me, we used the pull out method and I also took a contraceptive, so I'm wondering if there could be any chance that I'm pregnant?
Also, I got on birth control (depo-provera shot) the following w

Unlikely, but...: A urine pregnancy test, done correctly, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant, and a test is not needed. ...Read more

I have HSV 2. My initial break out was dermal. And every breakout after that. Can i still give my partner HSV 2 through intercourse?

I have HSV 2. My initial break out was dermal. And every breakout after that. Can i still give my partner HSV 2 through intercourse?

Probably yes: "Dermal" could mean skin anywhere on the body; it says nothing about what body site was infected. Assuming it was genital area -- vulva, vagina, anal, etc -- then you remain infected in that area. Even if you don't have visible outbreaks, you can safely assume that from time to time there is asymtomatic shedding of the virus in the genital area when HSV2 can be transmitted by vaginal sex. ...Read more

How does depo-estradiol work as a contraceptive?

How does depo-estradiol work as a contraceptive?

It is not ideal: D-estradiol like the birth control pill suppresses the release of hormones that stimulate the ovary. This results in lack of ovulation. The problem is that it overstimulates the uterine lining. Progesterone is needed to prevent possible pre-cancerous changes in the uterus from the estradiol. Most contraceptives have both Estradiol and progesterone. Some have just progesterone. ...Read more

What is the depo-provera contraceptive injection effectiveness?

What is the depo-provera contraceptive injection effectiveness?

98%: The range of effectiveness for birth control depends on how precisely it is used. If you get the shot every three months as scheduled, the efficacy is 99%. The typical user efficacy is around 97%, which accounts for people getting their shot late. If you know you are going to miss a shot or be late, use a back up method until you are able to get the shot and talk to your doctor. ...Read more

Bleeding after sex recently came onto the depo shot contraceptive, could this be the cause? Thanks

Bleeding after sex recently came onto the depo shot contraceptive, could this be the cause? Thanks

Its possible: Depo-Provera can make your periods very unpredictable. Some women don't have periods at all and others only have some spotting. It comes randomly. Sometimes the spotting shows up after intercourse. Bleeding after intercourse can also be a sign of something more serious. So if its persistent, you should see a gyn to be safe. If everything checks out, you can stop worrying. Best wishes! ...Read more

I got my second contraceptive shot, it's not Depo it's called Mesigyna. Today I got my period and it's very light dark brown. Is it normal?

Yes normal: Yes this is normal. Like all combination hormonal contraceptives (progesterone + estrogen), there will be changes to your menses. They have higher progesterone effect than estrogen. Not only do they prevent you from ovulating but they also prevent your uterine lining from building. This will make your periods lighter especially over time. You're cramping should also be less. ...Read more
