Does the metronidazole antibiotic cure BV and chlamydia?

Does the metronidazole antibiotic cure BV and chlamydia?

Not both: Metronidazole will often cure BV (bacterial vaginosis). It is ineffective against chlamydia. It: It is ok to take both, but you might want to give your stomach at least a 20 minute rest in between the Azithromycin dose and the Metronidazole dose. Both can cause stomach upset, so taking them together may make you feel pretty miserable. Taking them with food or milk can help. Good luck! And remember not to have unprotected sex for 7 days after treatment and make sure your partner has been treated, too to prevent reinfection. Good luck! ...Read more

Need to be seen: If you are being treated for chlamydia and likely pid, and you are still having an abnormal discharge, then you really need to be seen. There is nothing that you can do on your own to solve this or make the symptoms go away. The infection needs to be identified and properly treated. ...Read more

When taking antibiotics for chlamydia and bacterial vaginosis if I vomit will the antibiotics still work?

When taking antibiotics for chlamydia and bacterial vaginosis if I vomit will the antibiotics still work?

It depends...: ...on how soon you vomit after each dose. Within 30 minutes, treatment may not work. After a half hour, usually enough antibiotic is retained or has been absorbed to still be effective. If both doxycycline and metronidazole, don't take them together and take both with food. Avoid alcohol. Also, azithromycin 1 dose can replace doxycycline. Discuss all this with the doctor or clinic treating you. ...Read more

I have giving my male partner metronidazole to treat Chlamydia. Is he cured, because he has taking it for 7 days? Should I have sex and oral sex?

Won't fix it: I can understand you using some left over med to treat someone for what you assume is the problem but if it is chlamydia, metronidazole is not going to cure it. This is a good question to ask, and it points out the confusion over std's.Meds that cure one don't cure all. And without proper diagnosis and treatment you can end up sterile when you get chlamydia because of the shortcut.. ...Read more

Recently had chlamydia and urethritisI took medicine (cipro&metronidazole) I felt better now I see blood again when I wipe why is that?

Get rechecked: Something doesn't compute. Neither of these antibiotics is reliable for chlamydia. Were you actually tested for chlamydia, with a positive result? Did you have abdominal pain or diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)? Did your sex partner (s) get tested and treated? Have you started having sex since treatment? In any case, for sure return to the doctor or clinic to be rechecked. ...Read more
