Does Soy Formula For Babies Cause Babies To Get Thrush
No: Thrush is an infection caused by a fungus (sometimes called yeast) this type of infection is common in babies because their immune system is still developing. Fungal infections are common in warm moist areas like the mouth, diaper area (especially the creases) and folds of skin such as under the neck. It is not related to type of formula. Antibiotic use can increase yeast infections.See 6 more doctor answers

My child consumes all liquids through gtube. He is soy, dairy, gluten free. He appears to have thrush in his mouth. What could have caused this?
2mnths&all of a sudden gas so bad farts it startels her&she screams like it hurt on soy formula also mild thrush and umbilical hernia what cld b wrong?
Food: 95% of all problems in children under the age of 5 are diet related and that is the best place to start. If breast feeding I ask what mom is eating...Dairy can be very irritating and gas producing. She may also need probiotics to aid her digestion. Soy can also be very irritating. Consider gentle ease (half dairy/half predigested or nutramigen) and talk to your pediatrician's office.
Not likely: While dog bites are problematic for infections, licking is not usually associated with oral or skin infections.
Can switching soy base formula to regular milk base, harm by 3month old baby? If babies stay on soy base, will that effect her when she gets older?
Varies: There are babies that are intolerant to milk based formulas, either to the protein or the lactose sugar. These kids will be chronically fussy, have acidic stools or otherwise a mess. If your kid can eat, digest and act comfortable on a milk based formula it is ok to switch. You might want to review the idea with the doc, some use soy for kids with galactosemia and a change to could be harmful.
Depends on situation: Some folks prefer the bovine protein as more human like & there is some question whether the soy lives up to its quality. That said, most kids would never have any appreciable difference in growth/development either way. The exception comes if a kid is intolerant to one. If so, the other product or a specialty formula like alumentum would be less likely to cause GI symptoms.
Positioning: What is the age of the child? If older than 3 months and if severe GERD I would consider adding rice cereal 1 tablespoon per 4 oz of the formula to thicken the feed. In a baby less than 2 months I would try positioning in a 45 degree position after feedings for an hr to see if it helps. Fomula switching will not improve GERD if that is the correct diagnosis.
Absolutely: Alimentum and nutramigen are the first two that are readily available that come to mind. They are a bit more expensive, but very easy to digest and no soy anything. They don't taste as good, so if the baby scoffs at eating them, can put one drop of vanilla in the entire bottle to flavor.
My baby drinks soy isomil infant formula and every time he drinks it his eye swell. Is that an allergic reation.
Possibly: If it happens every time, it is probably some type of reaction, mild allergy. Talk to your pediatrician....
See a Specialist: This is a complicated question that cannot be well answered in only 400 characters. The problems with formula may be allergy or lactose intolerance or several other things. You should have the baby tested for soy and milk allergy and you may need to try several formulas before you find one that is well tolerated. Enfamil AR thickens in the stomach so it is less likely to reflux back up the esop
My infant has had runny seedy poos for three weeks now and cries a lot after feeds. Is it ok to mix/wean soy formula with his milk based formula?

When do babies outgrow thrush, baby 17 weeks on nystatin since 2 months, and she still has some thrush. Been using vinegar solution?
Should have resolved: If Nystatin oral suspension was given at appropriate dose (1-2 ml four times daily) then must consider: 1. Incorrect diagnosis 2. Re infection from someone else 3. Underlying health problem eg immunity problems if not already done, child should be re evaluated by her pediatrician and or dermatologist.
Will rubbing a pee-soaked diaper on an infant's face and/or tongue cure him of thrush and baby acne?
Not advisable: There is much folklore surrounding the use of urine as a cure-all, but little evidence of any benefit. Urine should be sterile and not cause disease, but there are much better treatments for both oral thrush and acne. Baby acne does not need treatment and will go away on its own. Benzoyl peroxide is far more effective for treatment of adult acne.See 2 more doctor answers

Babies get thrush: Newborn babies get thrush. It is a completely normal event because of their developing immune system. To treat it you should visit the doctor so he can prescribe something that will help get rid of the thrush.
I keep having recurring thrush episodes and my husband also after we have sex no over the counter treatment seems to work. We got it after our baby had thrush in the mouth I'm assuming I had it in my mouth and giving him oral caused us to both get it now
