Tips when removing a C-section stitch? Is it suppose to hurt when removing the thread?

Tips when removing a C-section stitch? Is it suppose to hurt when removing the thread?

What stitch?: Most incisions are closed subcuticularly (suture under the skin) & these dissolve on their own. Many use skin staples and these are removed from 3-7 days after surgery & some use absorbable staples that dissolve under the skin & work really well (my favorite). If you have a suture exposed, call your surgeon, some do use a permanent suture that pulls through once the skin heals. Better check 1st. ...Read more

Not really: There are some normal complications that may occur postopertively. One of the more common that I have seen is a suture abscess. This is where the dissolvable sutures are not dissolving and they work their way out of the skin. Depending on the type of procedure you had you may have some other problems. I had a stitch in my arm from two years ago I cut part of it and made my arm hurt worse and swell what should I do?

Suture removal: Surgeons use sutures to hold body tissues together. They came in about a dozen varieties. Those that are visible, are typically non absorbable and are removed in 10-14 days. Those that are buried underneath of the skin, are either absorbable or non absorbable depending on the area of the body and the tissues being held together. A visible stitch 2 years later is unusual. Leave incision alone: After an uneventful hydrocelectomy, doing nothing but leaving the surgical site alone by just keeping there dry would be the most reasonable care. What to do after tongue tie release? It hurts alot, when will the pain cease, and will the stitches leave themself? What drinks are ok?

Tongue tie: Unfortunately, any surgery in the mouth is going to hurt quite a bit. The pain that you have now shouldn't be as bad as after tonsillectomy, but it will hurt. Healing is usually pretty quick, usually just a few days because the frenulum is a very thin delicate membrane underneath the tongue. Stituches usually dissolve, but you might ask your surgeon. Avoid carbonation, caffeine, citrus. ...Read more

How bad does it hurt to get the stitches removed from a septo-rhinoplasty? Is it really bad? Should I take pain medicine before I go to get it done?

Not the worst: I would have someone bring you to the appointment and take 1-2 of the pain pills an hour before you go. There will be some weird pulling/tugging sensations and some suctioning of mucous, allowing you to breathe better after all is removed. Think of how good you will feel once it is done and you will make it through! ...Read more

My 20 year old son got 5 stitches on his upper check. Should he apply Vaseline or neosporin to the site? Also they told him 5-7 days for suture remov

Vaseline: Large studies of ointments on sutures indicate no benefit from neosporin or bacitracin. They fail to prevent infection. They are common sensitizers, among the most common things causing allergic reactions. Throw them away. Lubricate the wound with vaseline or Aquaphor and rinse with water twice a day. ...Read more
