Does Regular Caffeine Use Cause Blighted Ovum
Excessive caffeine intake can lead to a fast heart rate, excessive urination, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, anxiety, depression, tremors, and difficulty sleeping. The effect of caffeine on health has been widely studied. Doubt it: Blighted ovum (or anembryonic pregnancy) is more related to a chromosomal or post-conception error. Nothing you can do to prevent or cause these. Smoking however, can increase infertility, miscarriage, growth restriction, and preterm delivery. No to mention the neonatal health problems including sids...So, if you're planning a family; quit, eat healthy, exercise, & update your exam.See 1 more doctor answer
No: The two issues are most likely unrelated.
No: A woman can have a urinary tract infection with or without getting a blighted ovum. A woman can also have a blighted ovum with or without any urinary problems.
I was exercising (zumba) on the day my baby stopped developing. Could this have caused my blighted ovum if genetic tests of the sac came back normal?
No: Exercise is good, and doesn't bother a normal pregnancy. Women have had to work or otherwise exercise during pregnancy since the beginning of time. Life is not perfect, so if a defective fetus is created, the woman's body has the job of shutting down the pregnancy and getting rid of the embryo or fetus. That's how nature does its amazing work, both in humans and in our pets and animals.
Probably not: A blighted ovum may be related to some abnormal genetics in origin. The baby part of the embryo didn't grow while the placental part did.
Well.....: It is not likely that binge drinking would directly cause a blighted ovum. Blighted ovums are common and are usually caused by genetic missteps during conception. More concerning though is the fact that there is binge drinking at all especially in someone who is at risk for getting pregnant. Binge drinking is a serious health risk. Please discuss this with your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
If my husband smoked marijuana regularly for 20 years and during the time we conceived, could this have caused our blighted ovum?
Not really: Sperm are made daily from stem cells & the one that gets through to fertilize the egg tends to be the healthiest & best swimmer. In this way men get a pass on many bad habits. Women, however, only have the eggs they are born with & anything they eat, drink or are exposed to in life affects the eggs. It is not fair but that's the mechanics of reproduction. They transport the eggs, good or bad, until use.See 3 more doctor answers

Unknown: A blighted ovum is usually cause by a genetic abnormality in the embryo. That can arise from the egg or the sperm, but the egg is usually the cause. The exact effect of alcohol even in large amounts at that time is not completely known. Alcohol can lead to miscarriage in large amounts, but the exact nature of the abnormal pregnancy is not well documented.
Is a blighted ovum something that occurs naturally or can someone do something early on in the pregnancy that causes that to happen (like taking Xanax (alprazolam) before realizing I was pregnant)?

Since my blighted ovum 4 months ago, I get a very bloated belly and tingling under my belly button a few days before my regular periods. Why?
Normal: These are typical symptoms right before a period. I'm not sure why they would have started after, specifically, a blighted ovum, but it would be normal to have these symptoms in the days before a period. I dont' think these symptoms are related to the blighted ovum.
