Most: Most likely you have strained your back from being sick, but rarely infections may spread through your blood to your back and cause an infection in your back. I would recommend being checked out by your primary care doctor.

What is a pink eye versus uveitis in the eye?

What is a pink eye versus uveitis in the eye?

Totally different: Pink eye is the popular term for conjunctivitis which in adults is usually caused by a virus infecting the liniing of the eye similar to a cold infecting the lining of the throat. Most are self limited and need little care. Uveitis is a sterile inflammation of the inside of the eye causing pain, light sensitivity and a risk of internal eye damage. Treatment is with steroids; see an ophthalmolog

How can I tell the difference between my daughter having pink eye, begin poked in the eye, or something irritating her eye......She's 11 months?

Exam: She needs an exam. Getting poked would typically only cause tearing, and then lead to possible redness. An infection would be red with possible discharge and tearing, irritation could be all of the above.

See eye doctor: Sometimes once the virus clears, the immune system still fights and you may need to see an eye doctor to look for infiltrates that may require steroid drops to clear.

I have pink eye can I use the eye drops the doctor gave me from to month's ago and there not expired yet?

I have pink eye can I use the eye drops the doctor gave me from to month's ago and there not expired yet?

Unexpired eye drops: Did the doctor prescribe the same drops again? If he did then it is OK because it is not expired. If it was not prescribed do not use it as the condition may be different, as pink eye twice in 2 months is unusual, may be dry eye, chemical, viral, bacterial or iritis/anteior uveitis -an inflammation-not infection, even glaucoma (usually pain) f/u/ with ophthalmologist or optometrist.

My 8 yr old daughter has pink eye & its a fight to get the eye drops in her eye what else can I do to help her?

My 8 yr old daughter has pink eye & its a fight to get the eye drops in her eye what else can I do to help her?

Help with eye drops: One technique I use with my own kids is the have them lay flat with the eyes closed. I apply one or two drops of the medicine in the inner corner of the eye then open the eye lids with my finger while rolling the child's head towards the ear on that same side as the eye the was dropped. Enough of the eye drop will roll into the eye to get an adequate dosage. The fear of the drop coming is reduced.

What drops?: The tea bags will do nothing to speed the resolutions of the condition. The application of heat may help but it depends on the exact diagnosis. Your best option is to see your eye doctor for more effective treatment.

What's the difference between pink eye and herpes viral infection of the eye? Can you get either one from herpes simplex on the lips?

Different virus: Although the term "pink eye" is somewhat vague, it typically refers to an infection caused by adenovirus, is quite common, and highly contagious. Herpes simplex is also a virus which can cause an eye infection, is much less common, and can potentially be much more serious. You will need to see your eye md to distinguish the two.

One eye is very red. Just getting over a cold and severe sore throat. The eye is NOT painful and there is not any discharge. Could it be pink eye?

Possible: Could be related to a virus or other infectious cause. Also can be related to other causes. Would need more information and to examine the eye to make accurate diagnosis. If concerned, see doctor for eval and possible treatment if needed.

See ophthalmologist: Your vision is too precious to fool with and you should make very sure very quickly that nothing is going to damage your eye. Following that, if nothing is found it may be necessary to have an MRI with thin orbital slices done with contrast to determine if there may be a tumor in back of the eyeball. Please go and get evaluated soon.
