Is taking promethazine dm without codeine causing my restless leg syndrome (from heroin withdraw) and/or making it worse?
Restless leg syndrom: The medication that you are taking promethazine has anticholinergic side effects which aggravates restless leg syndrome. Use alternate medications which do not have anticholinergic side effects and you can discuss with your primary physician about these medications. Iron supplements, magnesium 2 mg a day and stretching exercises prior to sleep helped alleviate symptoms of restless leg syndrome ...Read more
Can I take cough syrup with codeine and mucinex (guaifenesin) dm simultaneously? I have bronchitis and in a lot of pain from coughing. If not, any suggestions?
Too much Rx: I wouldn't mix the codeine containing cough medicine with Mucinex (guaifenesin) DM which contains dextromethorphan. The dextromethorphan is basically an analog of a narcotic and you would be getting an excessive dose of narcotic which could cause excessive sedation, respiratory supression, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and other adverse effects. ...Read more

These drugs: Individually have profound sedative (depressant) side effects. Ingesting them together would seem inappropriate under almost any circumstance that comes to mind. A high single dose: But how well you do, may depend on if you take a medication like this long term and what dose or if you have only just started taking this. If you are really worried you should let your doctor know and they can guide you too. But if you are going to run into trouble you may notice sedation, drowsiness, nausea, itching, nausea/vomiting and other things too. This may prompt you to go to the ER. ...Read more
Thought to be...: The causes of DM2 are unclear, but thought to be a mixture of genetics, excess weight, and perhaps certain foods and additives. What is known is that the body becomes resistant to insulin (the hormone that allows cells to absorb glucose) and the pancreas (the producer of insulin) may become "fatigued." Keep your weight within normal limits, exercise, and avoid high carbohydrate foods to reduce risk. ...Read more

Sort of: Tramacet (we in the States call it Ultracet) is a combination of Ultram (Tramadol) and paracetamol. Tramadol activates opiate receptors in the body, reducing pain, but not in the brain. Since it doesn't produce a "high", its addictive properties are less than that of codeine. Hope this helps! ...Read more

For their sake, if not your own, please get clean. ...Read more
3 Symptoms: Addictions are characterized -- regardless of the substance -- by unpredictable loss of control (took 10 instead of 2), preoccupation with the drug (obtaining and using over other life activities), and continued use in spite of negative consequences (arrest, overdose, family fights).
