After 13 weeks of the Depo-Provera birth contol shot. Discontiue taking it. Will my appetite will decrease ?
Maybe : If you can say with certainty that the shot corresponded with an increase in your appetite that was persistant then you likely will see a decrease. Everyone is different and for many people there is no change in appetite. If you were using for contraception and not just menstrual symptoms have a back up plan to take its place as pregnancy definitely causes increased appetite and weight gain. ...Read more
Does the IUD contraception have an effect of weight gaining wen taken? And roughly how much does it cost?
Long-term insertion: The IUD is a device, you do not ingest it. I does not mess w/ hormones so there should be no weight impact. Cost is hard to say from culture to culture - but in the USA, insertion is the expensive part. A provider must do it. You can find this info locally. It does nothing to protect against STDs - so that can still be a big concern for some. ...Read more

Diuretics: Generally speaking people with healthy guts would start seeing increased urine output in about 90-120 minutes. However with cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and possibly ascites (water in the abdomen), the oral medications may not be absorbed well since the intestinal and stomach lining may be boggy with water in which case you might need an intravenous diuretic. ...Read more

Yes, no, no: Cycles much lighter and 35% chance of no cyles (still safe). Very minimal reports of adverse effects, like wt gain or mood changes. When birth control pills DECREASE libido, does that effect last for the duration of pill use, or does it subside after the first few months?
Continues: The decrease is because estrogen increases the sex hormone binding globulin( one of the many proteins produced by the liver). It can then bind more of the testosterone which is the hormone of desire.Only the free, unbound testosterone is available. As long as you are on the pills, the free testosterone and desire will be decreased. There are several progesterone only contraceptives or lower estrogen ...Read more

Not enough info...: I'm assuming you're referring to Depo-Provera since there are many "Depo" drugs. As for garcinia, there's not enough known about this plant to give any meaningful information re possible interactions (http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-818-GARCINIA.aspx?activeIngredientId=818&activeIngredientName=GARCINIA). Better to ask your Family Doc for suitable options to reach your goal ...Read more
Not likely: There is little evidence to support Nexplanon as a barrier to weight loss, however I am sensitive to the fact that statistics apply to populations and not people. This sounds like a good discussion to have with your doctor, to decide whether to continue the nexplanon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Currently on Nexplanon; but am taking estridonol, does adding estrogen back into your system, aid in losing weight? Opposed to only progesterone?
No: Estrogen is not associated with weight loss. It is used to help control bleeding. Progesterone is what provides the contraception in all hormonal contraceptives and estrogen is added for cycle control. In studies the Nexplanon has not been associated with weight gain unlike DepoProvera which has been shown to have an average 10 pound weight gain per year. The addition of estrogen doesn't help. ...Read more
Nexplanon implant July 2014. Just started period again after insert. Is it losing it's effectiveness? morbidly obese, if it matters.
Nothing: All birth control have a failure rate. Nexplanon is very low. There is nothing that significantly effects it's failure rate. It is considered a LARC, meaning long-acting reversible contraceptive. It is highly effective birth control that you don't have to think about and lasts a long time. We are encouraging use of LARCs to reduce the incidence of unintended pregnancies. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
No: "Rejection" refers to the immune system attacking something in the body. This requires certain types of protein to happen, and the Nexplanon does not have anything on it that can stimulate this type of immune attack. That being said, it can be pushed out, move into a problematic position, develop an infection, or cause an allergic reaction. All problems but technically not "rejection." ...Read more
Less protection: Since the primary purpose of using Nexplanon or oral contraceptive pills is to reduce the risks of pregnancy, "switching from Nexplanon" which is highly effective (98% +) to "Pills" which are much less effective will increase your risks of getting pregnant while providing you perhaps a more regular pattern of menstrual cycles. ...Read more
