Does Neosporin Help Wounds Heal Faster
I have an open wound on my face and it started to turn into a scab but got ripped off. Will Neosporin help this heal fast?
NO: Throw it away. Vaseline or Aquaphor is better. Neosporin, bacitracin, triple antibiotic are all the same aminoglycocide antibiotics. They are not useful for application to skin. They fail to treat or prevent infections. They are common sensitizers, causing allergic reactions and interfering with wound healing. Also avoid peroxide, alcohol, and iodine on wounds.Water is good. Lubricating is good.
I suffer with mild acne but I pick until they turn into open wounds, red and swollen. How can I heal these fast? I have already tried neosporin.
Neosporin: Neosporin has 3 antibiotics in it - use can lead to allergy in some. So consider selecting a different antibiotic ointment to help.
My nose raw from blowing too much. Now its dark & looks bad. Kinda hurts. Put neosporin on it. Anything 2make it heal faster? Could it go away in 5 days?
I burned my face with toothpaste from using it for acne. How can I help it heal faster and is neosporin safe?
Telephone: You have already done damage to your body by using a product "off-label." I would suggest that you use your telephone to call a skin specialist, a Dermatologist, for the best professional care for your acne and for your damaged skin. Don't use mascara to brush your teeth, don't use toothpaste to treat skin infections.See 1 more doctor answer

Hi doc, I have a small wound on the side of my big toe next to the nail that will not heal. I cover it with neosporin and a bandaid twice a day.
Start Now, not later: Normally, small open wounds are not a problem, but when they will not heal, then you must take action. These small wounds, given time, can become large, troublesome wounds. Some potential concerns are blood supply to the toe, history of diabetes, infection and irritation of the wound. More than likely, this problem ends when these concerns are investigated, identified and corrected by a doctor.
Vaseline.: I know it sounds too simple but there was actually a study performed that compared neosporin with plain vaseline petroleum jelly to determine wound healing time and also risk of infection. Vaseline was actually just as good as neosporin. Also, a side note is that neosporin and polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) can produce an allergic contact reaction in some people!See 1 more doctor answer
Does neosporin work for reducing scaring after the wound has been almost healed or completely healed?
Not directly: Wounds and how they heal is directly related to intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The intrinsic factors that impact healing and scar formation include the depth of the injury (shallow wounds heal with minimal scarring), and your genetics. Extrinsic factors include mostly wound care - wounds that are kept greasy (vaseline) heal way better than those that form scabs and are crusted.See 1 more doctor answer
What ointment is best to apply in a wound. I got a small wound 2 days back but looks lil big today. Was applying neosporin. Help.
Keep moist and clean: Some wound respond adversely to Neosporin. The most important thing is to establish why you have the non healing sore to begin with. The general principle is to keep a wound moist and clean. Perhaps a bit of petroleum jelly on a sterile gauze.
Better Ideas: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation (red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day and protected from trauma. Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.See 1 more doctor answer

Possibly...: It is important to keep it covered using a band-aid. Keep an eye on it and make sure ti doesn't get infected.

Is there anyway I can heal after shave vaginal scrapes and cuts? I'm trying neosporin but is there anything else?
Treatment of Cuts: Moist skin heals fastest because the task of healing a wound requires the activity of cels. Cells cannot function in a dry environment. They need moisture to do their repair work. As the wound dries out, it begins to crust, forming a scab causing the cells to work harder to repair the injury. The key to healing a cut is maintaining the right amount of moisture. Keeping the cut covered.
