Does My Being Over Weight Have Anything To Do With My Thyroid
Maybe in some cases: I am upset by the number of radio adds for supplements claiming that the changes at menopause cause weight gain and are hormonally driven. Yes, there are changes that are related to a redistribution of fat in a "male pattern" fashion, but this does not have to be disconcerting. A balanced diet and regular exercise will ameliorate these changes and effect on self-image. Exercise can also help! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Anxiety and: thyroid issues can easily be related. Sounds like you are being followed by your doc for thyroid. Add some visits to a mental health professional for your anxiety. Don;t use anti-anxiety medicine alone but seek out someone who does therapy, especially cognitive therapy. Peace and good health. ...Read more

I have Hyperthyroidism and I've been getting more acne then before. Does my thyroid have something to do with this problem?
Probably 2 issues: B"sd There are some reports of oily skin and acne - but nothing specific on my literature search. This is probalbly occurence of a very common with a not so uncommon condition and both have their own specific causes and remedies. As an endo would check hormone status relating to the acne and the thryoid and make recommendations as appropriate for both. Happy to discuss. ...Read more

I have these tiny red marks on my body and i think it has something to do with my liver. How can I know for sure?

Despite exercising I have a bulgy tummy. What should I do to maintain it. I have even controlled my diet. Any medication that can help it decrease?
Sorry, but...: Once you've ruled out abdominal wall hernia, the only way to effectively spot-reduce unwanted abdominal tissue is to surgically remove it. The "pear" body type preferentially stores fat around hips; "apples" store it around their waist. Lose 1 pound of fat for every 3500 calories you drop or exercise off, but you can't pick where--sorry. Abdominal exercise will improve tone of existing muscles. ...Read more

Polycystic : Polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos) is a label given to individuals that have any two of the following three things: irregular menstrual cycles, symptoms of excessive male hormones, and an ultrasound showing multiple small cysts in the ovaries. There are many reasons why a person might develop these signs and symptoms. These reasons can lead to excess hair growth and accellerated weight gain. There is a "vicious cycle" that develops where increasing weight leads to increased free male hormone in the body which leads to excess male hormone growth and accellerated weight gain. The goal of treatment is to turn this cycle back the other way. The mainstay of treatment is to decrease available male hormone, block the action of male hormone, and achieve weight loss. The first two can be achieved with a birth control pill either alone or in combination with other medications that limit the action of male hormone on the hair follicles. The birth control pill reduces circulating levels of male hormone. Once this is achieved for about 6 months, then the hair follicles that grow the dark hair have to be destroyed with either electrolysis or lazar treatments. The weight reduction is more challenging. I have seen the best success with an organized weight reduction program like jenny craig or medifast combined with a membership at a gym with either a professional trainer or at least regular attendance at a class. If this approach is followed, you can usually deal with you main concerns. If pregancy is what you desire, a different approach entirely is needed. ...Read more

What to do if I have squint in my right eye. Because of it, what to do if I have lost all confidence in me. How can I gain confidence?
Squint or strabismus: The term squint is another word for strabismus or "crossed-eye." Many people with this condition can lose self esteem and may prefer not to make eye contact with people for the fear of their problem being recognized. Many forms of strabismus can be corrected by eyeglasses or, if need be, surgery. A patient with this problem should see an eye muscle specialist for treatment options. ...Read more
