Can the ingredient Paraffinum liquidum aka mineral oil in a hair stying product cause hair to thin or come out on the hairline or whole head? Thanks

Can the ingredient Paraffinum liquidum aka mineral oil in a hair stying product cause hair to thin or come out on the hairline or whole head? Thanks

I don't think good: Mineral oil is prob diff to get out, will block your pores and get stuck in hair follicles. Need a gentle cleaning agent not a lubricant. In upstate NY I had a patient who had arthritis in his knees and used WD40 on them. Prob not good to breathe that stuff. Hair needs to be cleaned without drying out. Scalp should be cleaned. Min Oil not the answer.

Does (light mineral oil) in creams and lotions clog pores and cause acne?

Does (light mineral oil) in creams and lotions clog pores and cause acne?

Yes it can: I would tend to recommend non-comedogenic products. Mineral oil can be too thick, even if light, causing obstruction of sebaceous glands.

Does mineral oil have calories?

Does mineral oil have calories?

Yes, but No: Since you cannot digest it, the approx 120 calories per Tablespoon do not add to your daily intake at all. Even if it did - this would play no role in your healthy weight reduction diet. Healthy moderate diets with adequate exercise are much more significant if weight loss is a concern. Best!

Mineral oil for constipation, does it work?

Mineral oil for constipation, does it work?

Yes it works: But may take several doses over several days to resolve. Stay on liquids during the time until the constipation is resolved. It is not meant nor good to be taken every day for long periods of time. Better to treat the cause of the constipation and hence prevent it than to have to treat the constipation after it develops.

Does mineral oil have calories since it is an oil? I've heard it doesn't...

Oil: Oil is nine calories per gram. The highest of foods. Think of olive oil, peanut oil, and the list of oils that are also foods go on and on…. Now if you are looking at this as a laxative then you may be right that it is not absorbed well. But oils are foods in many instances.

Is it correct that mineral oil is not absorbed and thus has not nutritional value?

Is it correct that mineral oil is not absorbed and thus has not nutritional value?

Negative value: Not only does mineral oil have no nutritional value but it can interfere with the absorption of fat soluble vitamins (a, d, e and k). I do not recommend the use of mineral oil and, if ever used, should only be used on rare occasions. See http://www. Nationalmssociety. Org/treating-ms/medications/mineral-oil.

Please tell me if oils like mineral oil on skin are safe and if they can have any side effects?

Please tell me if oils like mineral oil on skin are safe and if they can have any side effects?

Safe.: Contrary to what you may have read on-line, mineral oil is pretty harmless. If you apply it right after showering, while your skin is still moist, it will seal in the moisture and relieve dryness. If you have very sensitive skin you might get pimples or bumps from plugged up oil glands - but you won't know unless you try it.

Please suggest what food can you mix into mineral oil (the constipation treater) to make it taste better?

Please suggest what food can you mix into mineral oil (the constipation treater) to make it taste better?

No need to mix: Anything but if you are using mineral oil I would take a dose independent of meals. If you are constipated go on a liquid diet until resolved. Don't add more roughage to a plugged system any more than you would continue to stuff garbage into your disposal if your sink was plugged up.
