Does Lymphoma Cause Pain
Like other cancers..: lymphoma arises from an unlucky combination of genetic mutations in lymphoid cells during our lifetime. Risk factors include exposure to toxins, family history, or a severe immune suppression (e.g. HIV). Most often, the proximal cause can not be determined, and is mostly just bad luck, since our body is naturally subjected to millions of genetic mutations over our lifetime.See 1 more doctor answer
Yes it may: High ESR is a response to inflammatory process in body due to various disease like Tuberculosis, Rheumatoid arthritis, endocarditis. List is long. In lymphoma like Hodgkin type higher esr is taken as poor prognosis. However esr is not a diagnostic method for these conditions ESR may be used as a crude method to see the response of treatment in Hodgkin lymphoma
Cell turn over: Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is an enzyme that is in all our cells. Rapid cell turnover (a combination of proliferation and death) within lymphomas makes the LDH levels rise in the serum. LDH may also rise briefly after effective therapy, as the tumor cells lyse and release LDH. It should then fall as the number of tumor cells goes down.
Viral: It appears that lymphoma, especially in bone marrow arises from viral transfection of the Wnt-1 gene. This occurs in 3 systems, that is the invasion of the MMTV virus into the cells of the milk duct of the breast, the cells of the prostate and the lymphocyte. The Wnt-1 gene then turns on overexpression of B catenin which leads to the transformation to malignancy.
Lymphoma vs. Other: The spleen in hl may be heterogeneous/inhomogeneous/non-uniform due to lymphoma involvement, spleen infarction (death) due to cancer death in the spleen, or infection, or "other". The radiologist may or may not be able to determine that and your oncologist might be able to say more about it with knowing the clinical history.See 1 more doctor answer
Call you oncologist: This can be a medical emergency. You need to call your oncologist now.See 1 more doctor answer
It is not specific f: High alk. Phos can be caused by any/many liver disorders from any cause including hepatitis, obstruction of the bile due to stone or tumor. Lymphoma itself hs little to do with alk. Phos but it can certainly infilterate into the liver or cause bile duct compression due to enlarged lymph nodes in the porta hepatis area of th eliver and thus could, indirectly cause high alk phos levels in the blood.
Mostly unknown: A few lymphomas are caused by epstein barr virus infection, but in most cases, the cause is not known. Other cancers do not cause lymphomas.See 1 more doctor answer
