Can dentists help with acid reflux?

Help for sure: I often refer patients to a physician for a definitive diagnosis, but we can see several signs such as irritation/inflamation of the soft palate, tooth erosion and sometimes when a patient complains of bad breath, it has a pretty distinct smell.

My son two years old has ileostomy and acid reflux. I just start to feed him a little so what the best food for him that can help with acid reflux.

Acid reflux: With your young son, his acid reflux may not be diet related. It may be mechanical. I am glad you are concerned, the acid is painful for him. Small frequent meals with soft foods, (rice and oatmeal, puddings and soups) can help. Okay to see doc for medications to acid reduce. Okay to ask for surgery consult about the mechanical issue.

Need help with acid reflux, can't take zantac, (ranitidine) ppi's cuz it causes anxiety/nervousness. Is kaopectate good or something else?

GERD: You can try sucralfate which is different class of medication. You have to cut down on advil, ibuprofen& pepto-bismol. They all cause gatric irritation and bleed. Too bad you can't take zantac (ranitidine) & ppi. They are very good meds. May be you want to try other member of these classes. Thanks.

Would digestive enzyme supplements help with acid reflux and infrequent stools?

I don't think so.: These are two different pathophysiology. You do not need digestive enzyme supplements if you do not have any deficiencies, i.E. Pancreatic deficiency. For acid reflux you need h-2 receptor antagonists, like zantac or tagamet, and/or proton pump inhibitirs like zegrid, nexium, (esomeprazole) Omeprazole etc.

Best herb for acid reflux?

Best herb for acid reflux?

Aloe vera: Many patients of mine have reported that aloe helps them with their reflux - but remember, reflux and natural treatments have been around for thousands of years yet only with the advent of modern medication do we get truly 24 hour relief, so if the herbal remedies don't work, the next trip is to a doctor. Also, any weight loss or trouble swallowing you must talk with an md!

How do you treat acid reflux?

One way is: To not eat late in the evening before going to bed at least 3-4 hours. Never overeat. Cigarette smoking can also cause acid reflux. Avoid stressors in your environment. Other methods are with medications- antiacids such as tums, (calcium carbonate) H2 blockers such as ranitidine, proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole. Lastly avoid overingestionof NSAIDS such as Ibuprofen which I see you are taking.
