Injections should not cause weight gain but there is a more important issue.
Type 2 diabetes can and should be corrected such that you no longer have diabetes.

I don't think one is more likely than the other to cause weight gain all by itself. Weight gain comes with poor blood sugar control. Whichever preparation (or combination of the two) allows you the tightest control wins.
Are you not going to test more than once or twice a day, ever? Then Lantus (insulin glargine) is probably better, since it's longer acting. I would not recommend laziness in this, however.

How can i say this?: Insulin works by lowering your blood sugar, you know that. But it lowers your blood sugar, by putting the sugar on you. You understand what i mean? There are very safe and proven estrogen replacement medications that are well-studied and whose proper dosing and side effects are well understood.
