Does It Matter If Femara Is Taken In The Morning Vs Evening
No matter: There are several reasons to take Femara (letrozole) but it should not matter when you take the medication regarding the benefits of its use. It can cause symptoms with dizziness and some people choose to take it before bedtime. You should discuss your other medications with your provider, specifically if you are on thyroid or cholesterol meds, in order to determine interactions and the best time to take it.
No: Why would a young child take femara (letrozole)? It is a drug used for the treatment of breast cancer in post-menopausal women. If your child (or grandchild) has taken many of your pills, you should contact your local poison control - usually by calling your local hospital emergency department.See 1 more doctor answer
Discuss with you MD: It depends on what you mean by "vacation". How long you are thinking to stay off the femara (letrozole)? . Since I don't know any other information- such as the staging- the goal of therapy, your tolerance etc, I would suggest you to discuss this matter with your oncologist.See 1 more doctor answer
See full answer: Currently the alternatives to Femara (also known as letrozole) are Arimidex (anastrozole) and Aromasin (exemestane). All 3 belong to a class of medications known as aromatase inhibitors and can help reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence. Another type of medication, tamoxifen, is known as a selective estrogen receptor modulator, or serm - it is primarily used in premenopapusal women.See 1 more doctor answer

I have completed first cycle of femara (letrozole). But did not concieved. What can be the possible reasons. Test of my husband are normal.
Luck, No ovulation: Femara is a good drug but if you did not ovulate then no pregnancy. Change dose is no ovulation. Luck - the success rate is about 10-15% per cycle, so try a few more cycles. Femara is not a first line drug. Clomid (clomiphene) actually works better - maybe switch or add clomid (clomiphene). Best wishes.
I stored femara (letrozole) at 50 f, even though the leaflet says it has to be stored at 77 f. (short term between 60 and 90 is ok). Can I still take the tablets?
Yes: As long as the package date has not expired.
Most likely: Femara is the brand name for the drug letrozole, which is an aromatase inhibitor. This kind of drug blocks production of estrogen, making the body think it should create a surge of hormones like those that prompt ovulation. Letrozole is sometimes used in women being treated for infertility to induce ovulation. In post-menopausal women, ovulation will not occur, and Letrozole has other uses.See 1 more doctor answer
Different action: Tamoxifen blocks the estrogen receptor, while Femara (letrozole) blocks the formation of estrogen. Estrogen levels are not lowered by tamoxifen, but they are lowered by femara (letrozole). Both cause hot flashes, bone loss, depression, memory problems and decreased libido. Tamoxifen increases blood clot and uterine cancer risk and causes vaginal discharge, while Femara (letrozole) causes more joint pain and vaginal dryness.See 1 more doctor answer
