Rbc & Hgb low: A NORMAL CBC Last year includes a normal red blood cells(RBC) & hemoglobin(Hgb) and based on last year's data, you Were not anemic. Anemia is lower than normal red cells in blood. Does allegra (fexofenadine) 24 hours (not with d) surpress your immune system? Can I get blood work (cbc w/diff) done while on allegra (fexofenadine) and have it be accurate?
No: Allegra (fexofenadine) is an otc non-sedating antihistamine and as such down regulates the release of histamine from mast cells in the tissue or decreases the effect of histamine that is released. I do not think it would significantly suppress the immune system which is primarily lymphocyte function. You can get blood work. The only thing, you can not do is get skin testing for allergies while on this drug. ...Read more

Just had a CBC with differential done. Results say "There is no component information for this result." What does this mean?
MCV?: Mean corpuscular volume (MCV) measures red blood cell (rbc) size. Low MCV means the cell is smaller than expected. This happens in some inherited conditions like thalassemia minor (rarely causes any problem except small rbcs). Or it can happen when there isn't enough iron in the diet. If the other parts of the CBC are normal, it's more likely the 1st answer. Ask his doc to explain further. ...Read more

Likely not: Typically, a normal platelet count in a healthy individual is between 150, 000 and 450, 000. Oftentimes, bloodwork results will list the actual number in the hundreds (i.e. 361 like your case), implying a result of 361, 000. However, to confirm, I would review the results with the ordering physician. ...Read more

Just had a CBC done and there is one under autodiff called ig%. What is this? Mine is high at 1.3 no appt wiht doc until feb. Thanks.
During fever: You have a child with a fever and want/need cbc. Your doctor will consider the history and physical exam also not just the white blood count of the CBC in order to treat. There is also the differential to consider in cbc. If your child is very sick then a blood culture taking during or early in fever will be best. Most viral infections are self limiting, the key is fluids. ...Read more

Anemia: Normochromic means that your red cells are normally colored (not too pale or too dark). Normocytic means that your red cells are normally sized (not too small or too large).
