It depends: In general, dysautonomia and seizures could occur independently and this is the case in most patients. However, there is no simple answer to your question. Seizures can cause autonomic changes (depending on seizure type) and people could seize after a syncopal episode (syncope can be due to dysautonomia). You are correct: The data is not in on the new serotoneric agents with regard to lowering of the seizure threshold ( it took a while after Welbutrin's release that we noted the increased incidence of provoked seizures.).
