Does Interstitial Cystitis Cause Back Pain
Lower left abdomen/back pain, I have interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, ibs, and pfd. The pain is unbearable, can any of these be the cause? Help: (
Back Pain: Could be unrelated. As with most pain conditions, there can be a variety of potential problems that can cause the pain that you are describing. It is difficult to diagnose with the short description given and without a proper physical examination. Pain is often a sign of inflammation. A qualified pain specialist should be able to help.See 1 more doctor answer
Pbs is also called interstitial cystitis (ic). It is a chronic condition of the bladder that causes pain in the pelvis and low abdomen. The exact cause is unknown but seems to have some correlation with endometriosis and is more common in women. There is a lot of research by urogynecology and urology trying to better understand what causes it and how to treat it. Diet has ...Read more
Pelvic pain and back pain. Doctors say no source and diagnosed interstitial cystitis. Is this correct?
Possibly: Interstitial cystitis pain is usually pelvic and often at its peak when your bladder is full and somewhat relieved by urinating. Usually associated with frequent urination and urinating at night. Symptoms are increased with caffeine or acid urine producing beverages such as oj or foods such as tomato sauce or paste. Can be lessened with a bland diet. Check out the interstitial cystitis website.See 2 more doctor answers
No: Interstitial cystitis causes UTI symptoms but it is not actually an infection. It should not cause fever. It sounds like you may have a kidney infection. Please get evaluated.

Breakdown in GAG: There is a breakdown in the gag layer of the bladder. Gag stands for glucoseaminoglycan and it is a microscopic layer that is supposed to help with protection of the mucous layer of the bladder. There is a lot of research going into this area and there is a significant connection between interstitial cystitis and endometriosis. Right now we are managing the symptoms as best we can. Here are some...: Chronic intertitial cystitis (IC) itself should not cause weight loss, but its commonly related issues such as stress, anxiety, or depression, etc., which are relatively common in IC patients, may contribute to your weight loss. To sort the things in the health myth can be done by following the instructions in http://formefirst. Com/eNewsletter06.html.
What medications cause cystitis? I'm having a cystoscopy for interstitial cystitis next week, but wonder if some of my meds are contributing..
Watch your diet!: I agree but would add that certain foods and drinks can really aggravate your ic discomfort. I usually ask patients when they have flares if they have started any new medications and on occasion have found meds that worsen the symptoms. If you have been on the medication for a while it is unlikely that it would suddenly start causing new problems. Ask your doctor if he has a diet sheet for ic.See 3 more doctor answers
How can interstitial cystitis be managed? Can it be the cause for reoccurring pyelonephritis? Any drugs for interstitial cystitis that can help?
Elm iron: Ic is a chronic inflammation in the "wall" (interstitium) of the bladder resulting in pain, frequency and blood in the urine. Reportedly more common in women, it is probably well under diagnosed in men. Best managed with dietary/lifestyle (hydration), there is only 1 medication approved by the fda - elmiron, (pentosan) to "fill the cracks" in the bladder lining. Intravesical (in the bladder) txs available.
Indirectly: An important aspect of ic is that inner lining of bladder may be damaged, thus bacteria gaining access to bladder can more easily attach or penetrate bladder lining. These bacteria can only be eliminated by antibiotics. Normal bladders have an intrinsic defense mechanism consisting of a protective coating to bladder lining which makes it more difficult for bacteria to attach or penetrate.See 2 more doctor answers
