Nsaids: Naprosyn (naproxen) and Ibuprofen are both NSAIDS, so you can not take both, but you may take naprosyn (naproxen) as instructed to instead of the Ibuprofen,..BUT note, it is important for continuity of care and good pt/Dr relations to inform your treating Doctor of the medications you are taking so they can be properly documented and that allows the Doctor to know how you are and stay in tuned with your case. ...Read more

Am taking ibuprofen for gallbladder pain It was working but not now Why could this be? am waiting to have gallbladder removed

Treat the cause: Laura, the pain caused by usually stones or sludge in the gallbladder is called "biliary colic" and can be masked by many different pain medicines for a while, but ultimately should be treated by the removal of your gallbladder as you are planning. If the ibuprofen is no longer working, make sure your surgeon knows so that he/she can assess if there needs to be additional testing or treatment. ...Read more

I have sharp pain in my upper abdomen, gallbladder area. It comes &goes but takes my breath away. Started after taking ibuprofen. Prilosec didn't help?

Possibly an ulcer: Usually ibuprofen-induced gastritis responds to medications like Prilosec. However, if they are more sever, they can turn into ulcers which are more difficult to treat. Remain off of the ibuprofen, continue the Prilosec & try to see a Gastroenterologist. ...Read more

Had gallbladder removal surgery yesterday & was given hydrocodone for pain which is making me dizzy & not fully helping can I take Advil (ibuprofen) as well?

It should be okay: It's best to check with your surgeon, but Advil (ibuprofen) should be fine and can help with pain without making you dizzy. It also will not cause constipation like hydrocodone. You can start with 2 pills every 6-8 hours and see if it helps. If you need to, you can take 3 pills every 8 hours. Make sure to take Advil (ibuprofen) with food. ...Read more

I have a menstrual migraine that will not stop hurting, have taken advil (ibuprofen). Have some oxycodone left from my gallbladder . Can i take one? I'm hurting.

NO!: Oxycodone is a potent narcotic with serious side effects, especially when used with alcohol or other sedatives. It is not advisable to take any narcotic for a condition for which it was not prescribed. Make sure you have taken the right dose of advil, (ibuprofen) see your doctor if the pain persists, and get rid of the oxycodone pills or keep it out of view. ...Read more

Can I take Advil (ibuprofen) for Hematoma pain control post op gallbladder while taking Cipralex, Clonazapam, and bupropion?

Advil (ibuprofen) can be: taken 3 times a day. I'd try 400 mg. If you go with 600 mg (3 pills) you may want to check kidney function periodically with a blood test. Advil (ibuprofen) can inhibit prostaglandin E2 at higher doses and reduce the blood filtering power of the kidney. ...Read more

Sharp pain in the upper right quadrant of my stomach. Gallbladder removed month and 1/2 ago. Ibuprofen not helping. What to do/could it be?

I would call MD: I would recommend that you contact your surgeon and inform him/her of your symptoms. It could be a leak, a retained stone, sludge, and ulcer and many other problems that are difficult to diagnose via online descriptions. In all likelihood though, it is not a cause for concern. ...Read more
