What could cause a high calcium&magnesium level in blood tests since my diet is extremly poor? And I have all the magnesium deficiency symptoms.
RBC: The best test for magnesium deficiency is an RBC magnesium level, not a serum. If you are low in magnesium, your body will pull what it needs from your bones and tissues. See a doctor to make sure nothing is seriously wrong, improve your diet, and consider supplementing with magnesium and K2. Can you get electrolyte disturbances ie low blood calcium and/or high blood potassium level While taking Magnesium Citrate 50mg 3x day Migraine Aura?
Mag citrate: This supplement is too low of a dose to cause changes in blood calcium or potassium. Also your body has independent mechanism to regulate these electrolytes. Mag Citrate should not alter this. ...Read more
Went to the ER for numbness in my hands and feet! they said my calcium is on the lower side but it wouldn't cause this but my magnesium levels are low?
What causes a low blood calcium level? Mine is 8.5 and i already take potassium and magnesium. Do they have anything to do with it? Vit d 57.6
A calcium of: 8.5 is still normal. The calcium level is "total" calcium, of which 1/2 is bound to proteins. Have your doctor check your "ionized calcium" which is a much more accurate determination of whether your calcium is low or not. Low parathyroid hormone can cause low calcium, as can certain kidney diseases, and other problems. Make sure you are on calcium and d. Your d level is already ok. Check w/docto. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Does magnesium have a influence on calcium? My calcium is pretty high but when i take mg i stop having panic att.Can i take mg a week till i see a doc?
Calcium-Mg balance: Yes, calcium (ca) and magnesium (mg) influence each other in the body. Mg stimulates calcitonin, which draws ca out of the blood and soft tissues back into the bones. Mg is also needed for ca to be absorbed. Calcium excites the brain's nmda receptor; mg guards this gate & also neutralizes Adrenalin surges. You could try 250-300 mg of mg citrate powder/day -- it's better absorbed than mg oxide. ...Read more
