Does Having Early Puberty And Facial Hair Means You Stop Growing Earlier
Not necessarily: Puberty is a complex process involving multiple hormones and structural changes. In males the process may span from 2 to 5 years with a kids eventual height dependent more on how the bones are affected than other structures. As long as the bones have open growth plates there is room for a kid to grow taller. A bone age assessment (xray) can help gage potential for more growth. Discuss this with doc. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Can delay puberty stunt a teenager's growth? I started puberty late and never get a catch up growth spurt like my peers... Any connection to smoking?
Smoking is bad: While delayed puberty is usually associated with a taller stature (testosterone closes the bone's growth plates), smoking is associated with stunted growth. Studies have shown smoking can decrease your height by 1in or more. Smoking can also prevent the proper growth of your lungs and causes chronic changes that can cause COPD and increase your risk of lung cancer. ...Read more

Late height growth: I have not experienced this in my practice. When you stop growing the bone does not continue to grow and certainly not 13 years later. There are conditions where certain parts of your bone structure grow but you don't get taller. That condition is acromegaly. Please see your doctor about this. ...Read more
When does the penis stop growing for most males? Some docs say 15-17 some say until 21-22 I started puberty at like 11.5 years old what age I stop?
Age reference...: After gloriously marching into adulthood- usually after 18 years, physical growth stops as genetically coded; so, a man can not expect further penile growth afterward. Then, a man has to adopt and adapt to what he got, and use it to its fullest destiny. More? See Doc for evaluation, examination, and counseling. ...Read more

Is it possible for puberty to stall? My almost 18yo son's voice stopped lowering and facial hair stopped developing yet both not fully developed.
Possible but rare: Once puberty starts it rarely stalls. A problem with the testes or the pituitary gland could explain this or it could be a normal variation. If you are really concerned he could get some tests ordered by his PCP which should include LH and FSH (pituitary hormones regulating puberty) and testosterone and if those are normal you need not be concerned but if abnormal he should see endocrinology. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
