Does having early puberty and facial hair means you stop growing earlier?

Does having early puberty and facial hair means you stop growing earlier?

Not necessarily: Puberty is a complex process involving multiple hormones and structural changes. In males the process may span from 2 to 5 years with a kids eventual height dependent more on how the bones are affected than other structures. Precocious Puberty (Definition)

A condition in which development of secondary sex characteristics (breasts, testicular enlargement) occurs before age eight in girls and age nine in boys. Depends on variables: Skeletal maturity determines the duration of linear growth. If the bone maturity is ahead of a persons age, they finish growing sooner. An x-ray of your wrist and hand can be analysed for open growth centers. If they are closed you are finished growing taller. Most males are done at 17-18, a few with delayed bone maturity continue to grow slightly. ...Read more

Is it possible for puberty to stall? My almost 18yo son's voice stopped lowering and facial hair stopped developing yet both not fully developed.

Possible but rare: Once puberty starts it rarely stalls. A problem with the testes or the pituitary gland could explain this or it could be a normal variation. If you are really concerned he could get some tests ordered by his PCP which should include LH and FSH (pituitary hormones regulating puberty) and testosterone and if those are normal you need not be concerned but if abnormal he should see endocrinology. ...Read more

How do I know if I'm thru puberty? I am 25 years old and barely have facial hair. I still even get the random erections for no reason.

Physical exam: A doctor can evaluate you to make sure you have completed the changes of puberty but by 25 years of age you should definitely be done. Facial hair volume is a matter of genetics, some men have very little hair, some have a lot. As far as the erections, part of becoming an adult male is learning how to better control them, it doesn't mean they stop happening or go away completely. ...Read more

Approx. 20 yr. Old male, m I having gynecomastia? Not crossed puberty changes (body indicates), no chest hair and not full facial hair? Should I wait?

Get seen: You're "approximately 20 years old" and you seem to be using euphemisms for not having powerful erections / ejaculations like your peers. I suspect you have XXY or some other disorder preventing you from becoming a complete man. In any case, you don't have to tolerate having gynecomastia -- removing these is office surgery. I hope you get what you want -- and an XXY has a choice. Best wishes. ...Read more
