Would someone with extreme cat allergies still experience allergic symptoms if the cat is in a separate apartment on a different floor?

Would someone with extreme cat allergies still experience allergic symptoms if the cat is in a separate apartment on a different floor?

Unlikely: Cat allergies are due to dander sticking to cat's hair, so even in the absence of a cat, you can have symptoms if the cat was staying in the same place and shed its hairs for some time before it is removed. Cat dander doesn't travel by air as pollens do. You need to avoid cats or places were cats dwell as much as you can, see an allergist/immunologist for desensitization if possible, good luck ...Read more

Why expect the worst: Both are treatable/controllable conditions, bronchitis in an asthmatic patient can just be an asthma flare, if you're really sick, please go to the ER, for better management/control of your asthma, see and follow up with an asthma specialist, you can check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area, good luck ...Read more

What are the risks of an allergy shot for a person with severe asthma? I had bad reaction to the allergy test which caused bronchitis.

What are the risks of an allergy shot for a person with severe asthma? I had bad reaction to the allergy test which caused bronchitis.

Allergy shots: Patients with uncontrolled asthma are at somewhat higher risk of systemic reactions to allergy shots. Once asthma is controlled with medications most asthmatics are able to receive allergy shots without difficulty assuming that they are closely monitored. Since allergy injections lessen allergic sensitivity over time most allergic asthmatics will see improvement in their condition. ...Read more

Is there a way to link my Lung Nodules to the extreme levels of Aspergillosis (and a handful of other bad molds) I was living in?

-Steven

Possible but: One needs to rule out other conditions which may be associated with lung nodules (previous exposure to pathogenic fungi , sarcoid etc) and to confirm the diagnosis with lab testing etc. before one can draw any conclusion. Do to a fall, my 6 week old infant needed a cat scan. What are the side effects of a scan at such a young age? The dr said cancer but how soon?

Wouldn't worry: There is a tiny increase in cancer risk later in life children who have a bunch of ct scans. We're exposed to unavoidable natural radiation every day, and compared to this, the dose you get from a worthwhile ct scan is trivial. I'm glad junior is okay and has a parent who care so much. ...Read more
