Does Glaucoma Cause Headaches
Yes, but: Certain types of glaucoma can cause eye ache (angle closure, inflammatory, neovascular, etc), but eye pain isn't a hallmark of glaucoma (for that matter, elevated intraocular pressure isn't either - about 1/3 of people with glaucoma in the US are thought to have "normal tension" glaucoma - ie the pressure falls in a "normal" range). ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
I'm a Type-2 Diabetic. I'm on 2x1000mg Glucophage per day.
I also have Glaucoma.
I battle with headaches and to stay asleep during the night.
What can I do?
Headaches and sleep:
I might try Melatonin to help sleep. It is over the counter.
Do the headaches wake you? I would assess you r pillow(s). Too many, too hard, too soft, or what they are made of, you may have sensitivity to the material. The same with your mattress, maybe it is time for a new one, or an upgrade.
Lastly, do you spend a long time staring at the computer, it may be time to get your eyes check. ...Read more
Since I have had laser treatment for glaucoma I have been suffering with horrible headaches pain in the teeth cheekbones and blowing green junk out
See your doctorS: Since you do not have eye redness or eye pain, it is less likely your symptoms are related to the lasers, or the eyes. If you develop eye redness and eye pain see your eye doctor. The symptoms you describe are more consistent with a sinus infection. My suggestion see your eye doctor again to make sure the laser was successful and no complications developed. Also see your primary care provider. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Poss for symps of glaucoma 1 week, then not for 3 weeks? Had naus, vom, headache + severe eye pain - now he jus has cloudy vision that wasnt there b4.
Past 2 days I have a sinus headache, congestion, drainage, and ear " fullness". I have glaucoma, and r/eye is very red, puffy and draining. I am a 100% s/c vet, should I visit emergency ?
Sinus and Glaucoma: You didn't say whether you have open or closed angle glaucoma. If you took certain meds to relieve your sinus symptoms, they can increase the pressure in your eye, given your glaucoma. Nevertheless, with your history, i would not take lightly your unilateral eye symptoms, even though acute sinus problems can cause eye puffiness and drainage. To be on the safe side, i would check it out. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I'm having constant frontal headaches associated with eye pain/eye strain. I've taken Tylenol, but doesn't help. I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma and I'm 29. Could there possibly be a misdiagnose and I could possibly have a brain tumor?
Maybe but: I doubt that you have a tumor. You can get it checked but the more likely cause is stress and the eye strain you mentioned. The glaucoma can give you eye pain. Has this been treated and is it severe? Do you have a lot of stress. If you have eye strain have you been checked for glasses? These are things I would check out first. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Sometimes: Large studies published suggest that diabetes and primary open angle glaucoma (poag) are not related. Then other studies suggest that diabetes and poag are related. Without a doubt neovascular glaucoma and diabetic diabetes are related. Easy thing to do is when you get your diabetes exam. Ask your doctor to examine you for both glaucomas. By the way normal eye pressure does not exclude disease. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Benefit greatest: The greatest benefit for protection against glaucoma was in men with cardiovascular disease and high cholesterol. The authors believe statins might lower the risk of glaucoma by reducing atherosclerosis in the optic nerve, or by improving blood flow in the eye. Statins might also enhance the ability of cells just in front of the iris to drain excess fluid. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Suspicion: To be a glaucoma suspect, your eye doc noticed changes in the optic nerve exam that looked suspicious for disease. Sometimes this is optic nerve cup asymmetry, elevated eye pressure, thin corneal pachymetry, and possibly a + family history. Testing should be performed for baseline so that the optic nerve health can be carefully reviewed during periodic exams. If changes noted, treatment started. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Various: Simply put, glaucoma is any condition in which the fluids of the inside of the eye meet resistance to leaving the eye, and have to elevate the pressure to overcome that. The most common cause is an age related drop in outflow ability. There are other causes such as trauma, various diseases, etc. Treatment is by drugs, lasers and surgery to relieve the pressure - usually effective. ...Read more
