GYN's Can large fibroids (3) ON top OF uterus cause Sunkening IN of Ankle? Could it be they are pressing on the ORGANS? I'm Anemic due heavy bleeding

Possible: By "sinking in" of ankles, I assume you mean pitting edema. Large fibroids can put pressure on the large iliac veins that bring blood from the legs and feet. That can cause a backup of fluid in the tissue of the legs and ankles which leaves a temporary fingerprint when you push in on the ankle. There are other causes such as cardiac failure that you should have checked out by your physician.

I have had postpartum hemorrhage about 3years ago. What is my risk of this happening again? Is it safe for me to get pregnant again?

Possibly and yes: It is always possible that you would have another hemorrhage, but it is unlikely. As to whether you are safe to be pregnant or not, you should be after three years. Make sure your obstetrician is aware of it, and they might want to have a couple of units of blood crossmatched to you when you deliver, but that is a reasonable accommodation.

What's the meaning of postpartum hemorrhage?

What's the meaning of postpartum hemorrhage?

Dangerous!: Postpartum hemorrhage still kills women in developed countries in generally preventable complications. It means a woman loses more than a liter of blood after c-section or more than half a liter after vaginal birth. Physicians have little time to act decisively to stem the hemorrhage before it becomes life-threatening. Blood transfusion, surgery, uterotonic meds, hysterectomy and intensive care!

What are the tests for postpartum hemorrhage?

What are the tests for postpartum hemorrhage?

Obvious: Post-partum hemorrhage is generally obvious from bleeding from the birth canal and no tests are needed. Measuring hemoglobin and blood cell counts assist in assessing the severity of hemorrhage.

Very low hemoglobin after transfusion for postpartum hemorrhage?

Very low hemoglobin after transfusion for postpartum hemorrhage?

What is the question: Hello fbruno6. If you are still bleeding, your hemoglobin may remain low. Continued transfusions, if needed, will bring up the hemoglobin. You may also have underlying iron deficiency and that also needs to be treated. I am not sure of what your question is, but hope that the above information is helpful to you.

I had a postpartum hemorrhage after birth month ago and till now im facing severe intestinal pain constipatio and gaz all the time. What should I take?

Blame iron. Maybe?!: Following a hemorrhage, there is a good chance, your doctor started you on iron supplementation. Yes? If so, the iron will help speed up your bodies natural process of replacing the blood lost after delivery. Unfortunately, iron can be very harsh on your GI system (cramping, constipation, etc). Adding a stool softener/fiber may help. Narcotic pain medication may cause similar symptoms.

What is postpartum hemorrhage?

What is postpartum hemorrhage?

Why do I not need to shave my legs or underarms since I had a postpartum hemorrhage and long hospitalization.?

Why do I not need to shave my legs or underarms since I had a postpartum hemorrhage and long hospitalization.?

Hormonal Change: You may have had significant blood loss and this may have affected the pituitary gland which coordinates your homones. This sometimes happens in this scenario. If recent, it could also just be that your body is recovering from the stress of recent hospitalization but if it was not recent it could be a more significant change. Either way your should make an appointment to see your doctor.

Why did my HIV risk rise after blood transfusion for postpartum hemorrhage?

Why did my HIV risk rise after blood transfusion for postpartum hemorrhage?

Massive transfusion.: You were probably transfused with a lot of blood without the time to properly crossmatch it. Although blood units that are donated are typed, screened, and checked for infection, not all infections are always readily apparent. Since this was an emergency and a lot of units might have been given, infection risk goes up, especially if units were not crossmatched yet.

Postpartum hemorrhage after delivery and again in 10 days. Bleeded a lot and my uterus didn't contrat. Went to hospital but uterus in pain. Is this normal?

Postpartum hemorrhage after delivery and again in 10 days. Bleeded a lot and my uterus didn't contrat. Went to hospital but uterus in pain. Is this normal?

No - think vWD.: I am sorry you are experiencing delivery complications. Your description fits several possibilitites: von willebrand's disease, fibroids, retained placenta, gestational trophoblastic disease including placental site trophoblastic tumor, endometritis and cervical tumors. Vwd possibility should be investigated with a hematologist! The rest can be managed with your obstetrician.

I had a d& c and a uterine artery embolization for severe postpartum hemorrhage its been a week and I'm lightly bleeding is it normal?

I had a d& c and a uterine artery embolization for severe postpartum hemorrhage its been a week and I'm lightly bleeding is it normal?

Yes: Having light bleeding a week after uterine artery embolization for a postpartum hemorrhage is normal. The bleeding is likely coming from the lining of the uterus where the placenta was. That area has to heal (even after having these others treatments) so women will bleed or spot for 3-6 weeks after having a baby.

My uterus wasn't shrinking right after delivery via vacuum so they gave me blood transfusion. I got postpartum hemorrhage. Will I have it again?

My uterus wasn't shrinking right after delivery via vacuum so they gave me blood transfusion. I got postpartum hemorrhage. Will I have it again?

Not necessarily: The risk of bleeding at a subsequent delivery is not known. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine.

Why my blood count drops so quickly during pregnancy while my ferritin is >UNL? I'm at high risk for antepartum/postpartum hemorrhage (had IV iron due to the bleeding risk and IDA diagnosis prior to preg). Why do I still have anemia without iron/b12/folat

Inflammation?: I would think about this being secondary to anemia of chronic disease. Ferritin can be an acute phase reactant, essentially being indicative of ongoing inflammation; inflammation that can act as a mechanism for speeding up loss of red blood cells...Also look into your MCV. High MCV I would look into thyroid dysfunction. Pregnancy hemorrhage --> Panhypopituitarism --> Low thyroid --> Macrocytosis

8 days after first post partum period (lasted 5-6 days), still cramping? Also, does the fact that I had a fibroid during pregnancy?

Fibroid/crampimg: It is possible that the fibroid is causing a harder cycle with cramping. Use Advil or Aleve (naproxen) and call you GYN for an exam.

How to know if the heavy bleeding is due to intramural fibroids (2.2x1.9, 1x1) or dub? Dr says dub;can small intramural fibroids cause heavy bleeding?

Msybe.: Fibroids ccan be the cause but hormonal irregularities can also be the culprit. It may be some combination of the two. You have to rule out an abnormal growth in the uterine lining. Speak with your doc.

Would a 5cent fibroid cause stomach bulge. Gyn started me on nuva ring. Will this help with heavy bleeding and frequent urination. I look 3mths pregnant?

Would a 5cent fibroid cause stomach bulge. Gyn started me on nuva ring. Will this help with heavy bleeding and frequent urination. I look 3mths pregnant?

Remember: 1 inch is 2.5 cm. If anterior and you are thin it may be noticeable but if you are heavy then that's not it. The nuva ring, over time, should help the bleeding. Good luck.
