Can cat litter hurt babies?

Can cat litter hurt babies?

See below: There are two ways how the cat litter can affect the infants: indirectly through the pregnant mother, if she is taking care of the cat, they can acquire a congenital toxoplasma infection or directly, as they might get in touch with infected cat's excrements in the cat litter.

Today my wife cried alot and she also took lots of tension. Will it cause harm to baby as she is 21 week pregnant?

No, not if she: Continues to get adequate fluids, nutrition and rest, and avoids alcohol and other drugs which are sometimes used inappropriately to relieve tension. Depression is not uncommon, so that if her symptoms continue, please speak to her OB about this, as an Rx may be indicated.

Can accidentally electrically shocking onself during 2nd trimester of pregnancy ever cause harm to baby or a miscarriage?

Not if minor: You're asking a theoretical question. Fetal well being can be checked by ultrasound / biophysical profile if you are worried that a recent exposure to electricity caused any harm.

Can you get toxoplasmosis from cleaning out cat litter trays and can it cause you to have mental health problems, as some reports are claiming?

Can you get toxoplasmosis from cleaning out cat litter trays and can it cause you to have mental health problems, as some reports are claiming?

Yes you can: Toxoplasmosis can be transmitted via cat feces, and from undercooked, exposed meat. The parasite can be carried as a cyst within the brain. It can induce the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase necessary to make the neurotransmitter dopamine. Elevations in Dopamine may be associated with psychotic symptoms -- but toxoplasmosis is not the source of all psychosis. http://tinyurl. Com/cftsn7.

My boyfriend said it was bad for me to be around my at while pregnant. I thought only the cat litter was bad. Is the cat also bad for my baby?

Cat & pregnancy: The reason the cat litter can be bad is because of the potential transmission of toxoplasmosis, an infectious disease that can result in miscarriage. Yes, cats can be carriers. Simply having a cat while pregnant is not likely to give you toxoplasmosis. You could get it by coming in contact with infected cat feces. But humans most commonly contract toxoplasmosis by eating undercooked meat.

Can accidentally inhaling cat litter cause infection?

Can inhaling the dust of cat litter cause toxoplasmosis?

Can inhaling the dust of cat litter cause toxoplasmosis?

Can't exclude possib: Cat litter contains cat droppings which harbor oocytes of toxoplasma gondii. These take about 7 -10 days to mature to an infective form for humans. Usually you get the disease by contaminating your hands and transferring the organism to your mouth by swallowing food, etc. Certainly not impossible to inhale and swallow organisms but not sure how one would prove this.

Can inhaling the dust of cat litter cause histoplasmosis?

Can inhaling the dust of cat litter cause histoplasmosis?

Unlikely: You have not mentioned if the cat litter has been used by the cat. It is unlikely as the histoplasmosis is more in keeping with areas where you live such as the midwest or OHio River valley. If the little has been used you might think about how the litter is handled and can get toxoplasmosis.

Yesterday my wife was angry so she walked a bit fast...can it cause any harm to baby as she is 19 week pregnant?

Yesterday my wife was angry so she walked a bit fast...can it cause any harm to baby as she is 19 week pregnant?

No: Walking, especially walking quickly, is good for your health and does no harm to the baby. Tension, anxiety, stress can have an effect. I always recommend that a husband treat his wife very well when pregnant. After all, "if Mom ain't happy, ain't nobody happy". Do your best to not make her angry or cause her stress. I'll bet you can do it.

My wife took lot of exertion and stress for last 2 day as she is 13 week pregnant. Yesterday she spotted also. Can it cause any harm to baby?

Stress: Is negative for the mother but not directly negative to the baby. If the the stress is causing lack of sleep or poor eating habits, then it could affect the baby. Spotting can be common in the first trimester, but should still be checked out.

I am 9wks pregnant and constipated can you cause any harm to baby when forcing hard to go to bathroom?

I am 9wks pregnant and constipated can you cause any harm to baby when forcing hard to go to bathroom?

Nope.: You probably cannot strain hard enough to increase the pressure so much in your abdominal space to harm a fetus. Don't worry. You may, however, be uncomfortable - fiber, water, stool softeners, and laxatives can all help - just check with your doctor or pharmacist to be sure they're safe in pregnancy!

While changing used cat litter I think a piece of litter flicked into my eye, I rinsed my eye with water. Can this cause a eye infection?

While changing used cat litter I think a piece of litter flicked into my eye, I rinsed my eye with water. Can this cause a eye infection?

Possibly: It depends on how soiled the litter was & how much you got into your eye. If you rubbed your eye & caused a corneal scratch, this may serve as a nidus for serious infection. Rinsing with copious water or eye rinse plus artificial tear drops is probably sufficient. Your own tears & secretions generally protect your eye from infection. But if worsening discharge, vision change, inc. Redness: C MD.

I am 36 weeks pregnant. I used a heating pad on high setting on my back and fell asleep. I woke up hot a few hours later. Did I cause any harm to baby?

I am 36 weeks pregnant. I used a heating pad on high setting on my back and fell asleep. I woke up hot a few hours later. Did I cause any harm to baby?

Probably ok: The back is dense with muscles. The heat should of dissipated and would not have hurt your baby. Burning your skin however is my biggest concern for you in this situation. Be careful. Good luck with your labor and delivery.
