Carotenemia: Carotenemia is usually a benign condition characterized by yellow pigmentation of the skin due to increased beta-carotene levels in the blood. This usually follows excessive consumption of carotene-rich foods, like carrots, squash, and sweet potatoes. By eliminating these from the diet the color goes back to normal. Jaundice/Icterus: 44 year old female asks What could cause yellowing of the skin around my eyes Yellowing of skin & white of the eye is called Jaundice/ Icterus and is due to too much Bilirubin circulating in the body resultant from Liver Inflammation/ Infection &/ or Obstruction of the ducts that send bile into the Digestive tract from the liver or Gall Bladder. Can also be from too much Red Blood Cell breakdown.
Possibly.: Jaundice resulting from liver dysfunction is caused by deposition of bilirubin in the tissues of the skin. Bilirubin is yellow in color, and therefore jaundice is typically described as such. Ultimately, skin appearance is due to both bilirubin and the skin's natural coloration by melanin. Those with more melanin may have jaundice that appears as skin darkening.
Not sure: Where are they? Was there an injury at the site? Are they the only yellow sites or are you yellow elsewhere - i.e. Is it jaundice? Are they around the eye (s) or on the palsm - if s they may represent cholesterol deposits. You shudl be seen by someone who can make a determination - I suggest a dermatologist if your primary md isn't sure.
Yellow eyes: Yellow eyes are usually a symptoms of Jaundice, which is due to increased bilirubin from liver dysfunction. May be due to liver dysfunction from hepatitis, viral or due to chemicals includiing alcohol, or from occlusion of the bile duct from stones or a mass, or inflammation or intrinsic liver diseases like Gilbert's or liver mass/ cancer. Liver or bile diseas: Liver disease, biliary disease, or blood disease can cause a person to develop yellow or jaundiced skin.
Yellowing Skin: There are many reasons the skin, nails and even white part of the eyes turn yellow. Classically, jaundice (yellowing) is caused by alcohlism or other liver diseases. Too much carotene in the diet can cause it as well. Endocrine problems such as diabetes or hypothyroidism impair the liver's ability to convert carotene to vit a, causing yellowing. Kidney failure and anorexia can do it too.
Elongated papilla: When the taste buds get too long on the dorsum or the top (flat part) or the tongue they will look white or yellow unless you smoke (they will be brown). You can try brushing the tongue and or a tongue rake to break them off. You can also eat more ruffage (fruits and vegetables) and this will help to break them off. Same thing happens on the side of the tongue but generally not as bad.
Any yellowness of: Whites of eyes? Itching? Fatigue? Weight change? Change in bowel movements. Too early to say without medical assessment. Let your parents know about these symptoms. Take care.

Hi I'm on holiday and its 40degrees. Like many women I have a little thigh rubbing but it has caused a few red lumps and dry skin - there is also a yellow liquid that comes from them. It's very painful what can you recommend I do? Thank you!!
Zinc oxide: Chafing or rubbing of the thighs can result in various skin issues including the development of bullae with serous (inflammatory fluid). I would reccomend you apply a form of barrier cream. There are many types but many of them are thick, white and formulated with zinc oxide. The zinc oxide creams with vitamin a and vitamin d will also help healing
Yellow skin: Yes if your liver is not working well. As a rule your skin should not be yellow if it is not usually yellow. This can be a sign of vitamin deficiency or liver disease. If you eat too many yellow veggies it can happen also. See your md immediately if this is a change especially if your pee is also turning darker.See 1 more doctor answer
