Does Dust Mite Poop Cause Bad Breath
I have really bad breath between one of my molars My girlfriend jokes and says it smells like poop and she's right I floss often but smell still there?
Bad Breath: There are many causes of what you describe and the only way to determine the cause followed by appropriate treatment is to see a local dentist for a thorough medical history, clinical exam and x-rays. Causes may include dental decay, periodontal abscess, food impaction, improper or inadequate tooth brushing and flossing, fractured or loose filling, etc. Not to mention some medical conditions. ...Read more
Toddler's poop sometimes smells like bad breath/halitosis. Tends to smell this way more when toddler is constipated.?
Fermentation: The longer stool stays in the large intestine, the more time bacteria have to make products of fermentation (methane, sulfur compounds, carbon dioxide.) Encourage your toddler to eat more fiber. Fresh fruit are good sources that toddlers generally like. Also probiotics like active culture yogurt and Activia may help. Consult your pediatrician about other treatment for constipation. ...Read more
Bad breath problem mainly in summer. Asthma and tuberculosis tests are negative. My doctor says that I have dust allergies. Please advise me.
Bad breath: Halitosis (bad breath) may be a symptom of chronic sinus infection or even acid reflux. Allergic rhinitis with post nasal discharge and mouth breathing from nasal congestion could lead to bad breath more likely year round. Treatment for dust mite allergy should be confirmed and if present treated. If halitosis resolves, then that was the reason. ...Read more
If you use an unwashed bed pillow for 20yrs wouldn't dust mite issues and other "bugs" cause health problems?
Possible: The mites tend to thrive in the stuffing and less on the surface. No problem unless you are allergic to it. On the other, is this a theoretical exercise since I'd doubt that even a homeless person would allow the pillow unwashed for 20 years. ...Read more

Can zyrtek cause behavioral changes, and rapid heart beat in children? Evaluating whether to give this to my son for dust mite allergy
See a good allergist: Zyrtec (cetirizine) is the most potent of the new antihistamines and while it is very effective as an allergy medication, it does have side-effects, although rarely seen. For instance, 10% of kids/adults have a very hard time waking up in morning if on this med, or feeling drained, tired. My family has experienced this first hand....so behavioral changes is certainly possible I expect. Talk to your allergist. ...Read more

My doctor says I'm allergic to dust mite (f) but not (p). What's the difference? What do the p and f mean?
Subtle Difference: Der p1 (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus) and Der f1 (Dermatophagoides farinae) are the two major mite allergens. If you are allergic to one and not the other it doesn't make much difference. Basically you have a sensitivity to dust mite and should practice avoidance measures: dust mite covers to mattress and pillows, wash sheets on hot cycle once weekly, remove upholstered items from bedroom, etc. ...Read more
