Just started a new diet that has me drinking 148 oz of water a day. Can that cause my diarrhea? Or can it be the vitamins I started taking.

What would cause a sudden onset of very watery diarrhea? I was fine all day. Now I have had the diarrhea for 3 hours. Should i take anything to stop it? I am drinking water and i just ate some plain rice. I don't have any more sudden urges but each time

There : There are certain foodborne illnesses that have an acute/sudden onset. You likely ate contaminated food. This type of diarrheal illness usually lasts 24-72 hours. If it has persisted longer than this, you have a high fever, blood or parasites in your stool, and/or severe abdominal pain, then a medical visit is in order. The key with this type of illness is to maintain adequate hydration, and eat a bland diet until a regular diet is tolerated. I hope you are better by now. ...Read more

Will drinking plenty water reduce water retention and help show abs? Do anti-diarrhea drugs cause water retention? I not sick, just want a better bod

No shortcuts to abs.: The above answer is an excellent simplification of a complex topic: fluid and electrolyte balance. No one food or supplement will enhance your ab's. Exercise your core and maintain a normal body habitus. Check your BMI as a guide. It's boring advice, but healthier. ...Read more

Hi I use to drink a lot of fizzy pop which I have now replaced with bottled water. However as a result of this I am getting diarrhea please explain.

Because two things: occur at the same time does not mean that one caused the other. Congrats on making such a healthy change but it is not necessarily related to stopping pop. Did you change your diet otherwise? Please see your doc. Keep up the great work. Peace and good health. ...Read more

Can you get diarrhea by drinking too much water?

Can you get diarrhea by drinking too much water?

Generally no: The body has mechanisms to get rid of the excess water, but under certain conditions - if it is taken in very rapidly or in certain disease states, it can cause water intoxication - diluting the blood so that sodium levels can get very low - if low enough, it can cause seizures, coma and death. Diarrhea rarely occurs, because the water is absorbed in stomach and upper intestine, but it can. ...Read more

Can a person get diarrhea from drinking too much water?

Can a person get diarrhea from drinking too much water?

Not usually: water is absorbed very well from the intestines, and rarely could that capacity be exceeded. When the gut is inflamed by a virus, it interferes with the ability of the gut to absorb solid nutrients, and they will cause diarrhea. The usual treatment is to go to clear liquids, because they are better absorbed. Large amounts of water can dilute the sodium in the bloodstream and cause harm however. ...Read more
