See a podiatrist: If this is a chronic problem, you have to rule out a fracture or tendonitis, or both. You may have injured it without knowing. It may even be a nerve pinched in that area or your back. I would suggest having it properly examined and get x-rays. If you continue to walk with pain, you risk injuring it more, changing the way you are walking and creating a new problem because of compensation. ...Read more
Many causes: There are plenty of causes of foot/ankle swelling. First, you need to make sure that you are not in acute pain, which could indicate a blood clot. If not, then it could be the venous system not emptying, added salts in foods, lack of calf strength when walking, diabetes, etc. Make an appointment with your local podiatrist who can better differentiate the swelling and recommend a plan for you. ...Read more

Although there may not be any procedures done to those areas, fluid can travel along a path of gravity and teh foot and ankle are at the bottom. ...Read more
Foot swelling for no reason and it looks like I have an allergic reaction. It hurts its a shooting pain but I don't know what caused this?
Evaluation needed: Allergic reactions limited to one foot is a bit unusual. It will be important for the treating physician to distinguish between soft tissue, swelling, joint swelling, and angioedema from allergic reaction. Frequently with allergic reaction there is itching and redness and less "shooting pain." insect bite or sting reactions may be a possibility and a close examination will aid in this. ...Read more
Usually: When only one foot is swollen, it's an indication of something wrong with the foot, ankle or lower leg that's swollen. Blood pressure can lead to swelling if untreated, but usually in both feet, not one. Being overweight can make treating whatever is wrong more difficult, but it's not the cause of swelling. I suggest you either consult with your pmd or see a dpm about the swelling. Good luck! ...Read more
