Does Zantac (ranitidine) worsen digestion? I have gallbladder disease causing my GERD. Is it safe for me to take?
No and yes, but....: If gallbladder disease is causing bloating, it will make GERD worse. So, if diagnosis is confirmed I would recommend laparoscopic gallbladder removal. Would probably improve the GERD as well. But, the Zantac (ranitidine) is safe. Keep your weight down, don't lie down after eating, limit alcohol and tobacco. These moves will also help GERD. The recommended drugs for chlamydia, anywhere in the body, are azithromycin (single dose) or doxycycline for a week. Check with your doctor, or the nearest NHS GUM clinic. ...Read more
