Dandruff blues: Dear KMcClure, Dandruff can be caused by dry skin, allergies, fungal infection, or irritated skin. I would recommend to alternate shampoos between an anti-dandruff shampoo and non anti-dandruff shampoo. If your dandruff is already controlled using selsun blue 2-3x a week should work. You also need to learn how to get the best results by having the shampoo contact the scalp long enough before rinsing. Hydrocortisone in a liquid can be applied. Psoriasis : Psoriasis is one possibility. Treatment of the scalp is difficult because of the particularly thick skin, and often involves topical steroid lotion or a vitamin d preparation like dovonex. Really bad cases may need a biopsy and oral immunosuppressants initially to get the problem under control. I have a problem with dust particles in my hair. I use anti dandruff shampoo but that hasn't had any effect. My scalp feels normal otherwise.Any help?
