Costochondritis: Costochondritis is a common cause of chest wall pain, although the cause isn't always clear, in fact sometimes after a thorough history I still cannot determine the cause. Sometimes there is a clear cause - someone has a respiratory infection and has been coughing, or an athlete has been exerting him/herself wt lifting or direct trauma from a contact sport. Will a one time IM injection of toradol stop costochondritis...or will pain return when toradol wear off?
IM Toradol benefits: Hopefully all you will need is 1 IM dose of Toradol (30mg vs 60mg) to keep costochondritis symptoms at bay. Find that Toradol works well for symptoms which are "caught early". Hopefully that was your case. If it does wear off say after 2-3 weeks of >50% relief of symptoms, then you may benefit from short term oral NSAID (as long as your kidney function is good).
