Shouldn't . . .: Coffee shouldn't affect your liver (unless you're mixing it w/irish whiskey or some other alcohol). If you're mixing a lot of cream into your coffee, the fat in the cream may be aggravating your gallbladder. Best way to figure out what's causing "liver pain" is to stop the coffee for a while & see how you feel. Then start it again & see if it comes back. Perhaps you have gastritis? I read somewhere some Ingredients in instant coffee is known to raise liver ALT levels. Ex heavy drinker. Should I giv up ?? Drink 1-2 cups a day.

I say no: Cafestol is a diterpene found mostly in unfiltered coffee suspected to raise LDL. You can find ANY relationship you want just doing correlations. I reviewed the 45 articles on unfiltered coffee and the articles dealing with ALT are weird offerings from obscure overseas medical schools; there are also a bunch of "anti-cancer" claims for the molecule.
