In fact, some over the counter colon cleanses may lead to a condition called Melanosis Coli which is seen during a Colonoscopy. Eating a nutritious high fiber diet will help with proper bowel function. Consult with your Proctologist about your specific condition. ...Read more

"colon cleansing" is frowned upon, unnecessary and likely often harmful to your body so don't do it! ...Read more

Not really: The atkins diet tends to concentrate on proteins and fats. This can cause a person to be ketotic and build up of protein with overwhelming of the kidneys. It is my understanding that the extra water you drink will help the kidneys to filter the blood stream and keep you from damaging your kidneys, but i don't think the physical water contributes to the weight loss. In addition, cleanses don't typically provide the full range of vitamins and nutrients which can lead to other problems. Any quick weight loss approach is likely to lead to a rebound weight increase. This explains the observation that diets lead to weight gain! ...Read more
It depends...: Those who are overweight often have an imbalance of intestinal flora and improving this will help one to lose weight.
