I have been taking cipro (ciprofloxacin) for 4 days. Is this the beginning of a yeast infection?

I don't know.: I think some information may have been left off your questions. If you are experiencing yeast symptoms than use of Cipro (ciprofloxacin) may have led to yeast over-growth.

Both: It is important to finish your antibiotics to ensure that you get rid of the UTI or it may come back again or get worse. You can do an otc yeast treatment at the same time without any harm

How long after starting cipro (ciprofloxacin) should a woman start diflucan to prevent a yeast infection?

How long after starting cipro (ciprofloxacin) should a woman start diflucan to prevent a yeast infection?

Yeast infection: The drug Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is a powerful fluoroquinone antibiotic and is in the system days after the last pill is taken. You should ask your doctor if there is a more appropriate antibiotic (based on culture and sensitivity) that can treat your infection without giving you a yeast infection. If you are just extremely sensitive, then talk about probiotics or vaginal suppositories to help maintain your flora.

Yeast: If this is indeed a yeast infection monistat should help. If after the treatment course of Monistat you are not markedly better you should see your provider.

Took cipro (ciprofloxacin) for food poisoning, got yeast infection treated twice with flucunazole went away, went to dr tested for BV and yeast. Got the meds. Help!!

Persistence required: The balance of bacteria in your vagina has been disrupted and it may take a while to recover. Keep treating the infections when they flare up and over time things should improve. Probiotics may be helpful.

Not on your own: Inflammation of pouch is a complex problem, is the result of various reasons, like obstruction, blind loop, poor motility, poor vascular supply, and due to partial obstruction etc, speak to your doctor, Diflucan (fluconazole) will be one of the consideration for your treatment.

I have a UTI and am taking cipro (ciprofloxacin). I also have a yeast infection. Can I take the fluconazole pill with the cipro (ciprofloxacin)? Swallow both pills at the same time?

Yes: You can do that, but how long have you been taking the ciprofloxacin? It should resolve cystitis in about 4-7 days. You could also use a topical antifungal on your candidal vulvovaginitis.

I'm taking cipro (ciprofloxacin) to treat a UTI but think I am getting symptoms of a yeast infection. What are some vitamins or supplements that I can take?

Probiotics: Probiotics are a good, natural supplement to aid your body's immune system during this time. Other "supplements" that have beneficial properties to help avoid yeast infections include yogurt and buttermilk, both of which help to restore healthy bacteria into the body to replace the natural flora killed by cipro (ciprofloxacin).

I: I am glad that you had the prior evaluation. If you were not tested for chalmydia and gonorrhea then you should be tested for those too. In addition please be sure your pap smears are up to date. If you had any exposure to syphilis, this should be tested as well. If your urinary symptoms are ongoing, then please see a urologist for an evaluation as well. One possibility is interstitial cystitis, but there are other urological problems that can cause these symptoms as well.

Azo still pos for WBCs. No nitrites. On Cipro (ciprofloxacin) for 4 days now. No yeast infection or STD. No other symptoms. Have been stressed about this for days now?

Testing: No reason to be stressed. This is an easy problem to fix. Schedule a visit for an official urinalysis and urine culture. This will detect if an infection is still present. If other tests are needed then those can be done. The presence of WBCs may or may not indicate an infection or problem. This is a nonspecific finding.
