I have ibs, fatigue, sores in the corner of my mouth, and very itchy skin. Should I get checked for celiac disease?
Can check lab tests: A person who has signs of celiac disease, or is very worried she may have it, can see her primary care doctor or her GI specialist to get a lab test ordered. If the test is positive for celiac disease, she can go on a gluten-free diet. If the test is negative, but she still wants to try a gluten-free diet anyway, she can do a 1-2 month trial off all gluten and watch what happens. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Consider allergist: It sounds like your asthma is still not completely controlled. A board-certified allergist can be really helpful if you haven't seen one yet. Tai chi or chi gung classes can help with breathing technique and anxiety. See therapist for help with anxiety triggers. Take care of yourself! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Celiac disease. My doctor put me eat bread with gluten and took blood sample. Two days fatigue, no sleep. Celiac rash. This is wrong! What can I do?
It IS wrong: Unfortunately, insurance companies won't pay benefits unless the blood work is positive, and it will usually not be positive if you are already under treatment. So celiac patients are forced to become sick once again. The US health care system is horribly dysfunctional. I'm sorry this happened, but your physician is as trapped in it as you are. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Celiac disease, 2 mos on diet. Unresolved severe fatigue, muscle aches. Ferritin= 5. Doc said not anemic so iron supp not needed, won't help symptoms?
Ferritin of 5 = low: That is a very low ferritin, so this is most likely iron deficiency, though you may not yet have anemia. With this ferritin it is likely you eventually will get anemia. Iron supplementation is generally safe but also look into iron containing foods to increase intake. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Celiac disease: In Celiac disease the body reacts to gluten (in wheat and gluten like proteins in rye and barley) in the small intestine causing damage.
