Does carpel tunnel come and go? One day pain being 10 and the next being 0.

Possible: Carpal tunnel synd (cts) can get better and worse depending on a number of issues. The initial treatment is easy, get a "cock up" wrist splint and wear it to bed every night. It prevents you from "dropping"your wrists while you sleep which puts pressure on the median nerve as it passes through the canal. ...Read more

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (Definition)

The carpal tunnel is formed by the bones, tissues, and ligaments of the wrist. This tunnel exists to protect the median nerve, which controls sensations and movement to the thumb and fingers (not including the little finger). Carpal tunnel syndrome is when the carpal tunnel is inflamed and swollen, which pinches the median nerve and results in feelings of numbness, decreased grip strength, and muscle ...Read more

Wrist pain on one side when flexing it forward and picking things up. A few fingers are tingly too at times. Is this carpal tunnel?

Nerve conductn tests: A nerve conduction test is an excellent objective way to define the presence of carpal tunnel as findings can be subtle.I agree w/Dr. Ott that a good exam will help alleviate your initial concerns as you are young to have carpal tunnel.Typically @ this point we see tendonitis that's irritating the nerve(or causing neuritis) Try Occupational/Hand therapy, splint at nite, better ergonomics, stretching. ...Read more

Carpal tunnel endio one year ago Doc said scar tissue on nerve left hand and it will go away, told me this in Oct my Primary doc took xray said fine hand goes numb, feels weird can this be fixed?

You need to see: A hand specialist. The question is a bit unclear. If you had the surgery already and are still having issues and the surgeon is not addressing them see another hand specialist. An xray is worthless. Carpal tunnel usually has nothing to do with bones as much as soft tissue causing nerve impingement. Scar tissue is not seen on xrays. ...Read more

Depends: It depends on why your hand goes numb. Sounds like you need an emg/NCS to assess your median nerve (the nerve that travels through and is compressed in carpal tunnel). Ideally this would be compared to a study performed preoperatively. That can assess for recurrent slowing, possibly from scar tissue. Ultrasound is another diagnostic option ...Read more
