What effects can bipolar disorder have on a person's body over time? Short and long term effects

What effects can bipolar disorder have on a person's body over time? Short and long term effects

Is it possible to develop side effects of delusions and hallucinations a long time (years) after starting a psychotropic like clonazepam?

Is it possible to develop side effects of delusions and hallucinations a long time (years) after starting a psychotropic like clonazepam?

Hmmm . . . .: Hallucinations are a rare but possible side effect of clonazepam. More often, withdrawal from it causes this. Results depend on the dose, and what other substances a person might be using. It's not uncommon for someone with an ongoing psychotic disorder to be prescribed Clonazepam for sleep, etc -- along with antipsychotic meds. Your info shows you're also on multiple antipsychotics + depakote. ...Read more

If a person with tx-resistant depression is put on 80mg Prozac (fluoxetine) for a wk and has no side effects or reported benefits, does it make sense to try 120mg?

If a person with tx-resistant depression is put on 80mg Prozac (fluoxetine) for a wk and has no side effects or reported benefits, does it make sense to try 120mg?

Work w/your doctor: This is something that you really need to work with your own physician on. 80mg/day is quite a large dose already --and personally, i wouldn't change the dose after only a week. Deplin (prescription folate) and other things, including psychotherapy, are options. ...Read more

Is klonopin (clonazepam) addictive? I am having great success on it and would like to stay on it long term. Is this typical or is it only for short term use?

Benzodiazapines: One of the issues with Klonopin (clonazepam) is that tolerance can develop. I try to use Klonopin (clonazepam) as a bridging medication. In other words, i often use it until the effects of another medication (such as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor ) kick in. ...Read more
