I had bladder cancer 15 yrs ago and they now have found trace of blood in my urine. Doc scoped me and found no tumor. He is sending it away for a full?
Yes: Bladder cancer may cause visible blood in the urine or microscopic blood in the urine which is only picked up by urine tests. Depending on the type of cancer, size, number of lesions, etc, blood may be visible to the naked eye but can also be absent with smaller lesions. Therefore, urine tests must be performed when bladder cancer is suspected. ...Read more
Possibly: Blood in the urine (whether microscopic or gross) must be evaluated by a urologist. The degree of hematuria does not necessarily correlate with the size of the problem, so the evaluation would include laboratory testing, imaging of the urianry tract, and cystoscopy - a procedure to look inside the urethar and bladder with a telescope. Possible causes include infection, stones, and malignancy. ...Read more

Fearful re: bladder cancer. Have had microscopic blood in urine for nearly 2 years. Told due to warfarin. Now bladder not completely emptying. Often.
Not necessarily...: Blood in urine could be caused by multiple reasons. Most commonly UTI and stones. When it is painless it's worrisome for possible cancer but not necessarily. If you have been evaluated and already told it was caused by Coumadin (warfarin) most likely that is the reason. A cystoscopy gives a reliable diagnosis. Your symptoms could be caused by UTI so I advised you to see your pcp or urologist to evaluate further. ...Read more

I had bladder cancer 15 years ago. I had a trace of blood inmy urine. The doctor scoped me and found no tumor. He sent my blood to get a full report. What else could be the cause of blood in urine?
Lots of things: Congratulations on your cancer survival. With blood in the urine it's certainly possible that the tumor had returned but the scope is reassuring so that's clearly positive. Could be infection causing the blood, could potentially still be treatment related though typically that would have happened earlier. Good luck. ...Read more
