Does Being Over Weight Cause Heart Flutter
Abnormalities/Damage: Abnormalities or damage to the structure of your heart are the most common. However there are other causes: heart attacks, high blood pressure, stress, an overactive thyroid gland, medications, caffeine, lung diseases, viral infections, and/or previous heart surgeries. ...Read more

Yes: Atrial fibrillation, one of the most rhythm disturbances, can be caused by alcohol, and when people get it after binging it has been called "holiday heart." it usually occurs after larger doses of alcohol, and would indicate drinking at unsafe levels. Safe levels are less than 7 drinks per week in women, and no more than 3 drinks on any drinking occasion. If you drink more than this, talk to md. ...Read more

Probably not: I have never seen or heard of that. If you just mean palpitations or a fluttering sensation in the chest, perhaps. Some people get bloating from a high fiber diet and that could possible cause fluttering sensations in the chest. All palpitations are not related to actual irregular heart beat. The palpitation is just a sensation that you get of fluttering in the chest. ...Read more
What causes palpitations and heart flutters, like your heart is dropping in your chest or like it's drowning?
Skipped beat: Sounds like you're describing a Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC), which feels like a short pause, followed by a single stronger beat. They're very common among otherwise healthy people and can be reduced by avoiding stimulants, such as caffeine. See a heart rhythm specialist (cardiac electrophysiologist) for further evaluation and to ensure your heart is healthy. ...Read more
Any arrhythimia: The heart can flutter with premature ventricular contractions (pvc), premature atrial contractions (pac), atrial fibrillatrion etc. Fluttering also known as palpitations is basically a symptom and further work up is needed. ...Read more
No: Well we hate to say never in medicine, but I never heard of heat causing atrial flutter. Perhaps if you were overheated you could get symptoms of your heart skipping, but I am talking about the rhythm called atrial flutter. There are many causes such as hypertension, overactive thyroid, valve problems, and alcohol, but not heat to my knowlege. ...Read more
No: Although anything is possible, I can't think of a way that those two things are related. ...Read more
Yes, either: Heart palpitations can be caused by either low estrogen levels, fluctuating estrogen levels, or chemotherapy. Adriamycin (doxorubicin), Cytoxan (cyclophosphamide) and 5-fu are chemotherapies that commonly cause palpitations. The steroids (prednisone) given with chemotherapy can also cause these symptoms. ...Read more

Palpitations are just the fluttering sensations in the chest most commonly caused by the heart skipping, or beating faster or more forcefully. Indirectly, yes.: Water pills can cause dehydration which may make the blood pressure drop and the heart rate rise that you might sense as heart palpations. Most water pills can also cause potassium levels to drop which can then cause heart rhythm disturbances. REGARDLESS, these are SERIOUS symptoms. Please seek immediate emergency medical care. Many things: The two are not necessarily related. Heart flutter, if you mean sensations of fluttering in the chest, can be caused by an abnormal heart rhythm. But palpitatios can occur even if the rhythm is regular. Numbness of an arm is commonly caused by pressure on a nerve which can occur in the neck, elbow, or wrist. Occasionally, arm numbness can occur with heart chest pain. Also can occur with stroke. ...Read more
I have anxiety & during times of extra stress I can feel palpitations where my heart feels like it flutters. Is this dangerous? Can it cause damage?
I ate flaxseed months ago and had heart palpitations. Now today I ate chia seeds in a recipe and now having heart flutters again. Do these cause this?
Possible allergy: I've never heard of either flax or chia seeds causing heart palpitations. This could be a coincidence (just because you eat something and then get a symptom does not mean that was the cause of the symptom). It is possible you are allergic to flax and chia seeds, as palpitations can be caused by food allergies. Try these again (separately). If every time you eat them you get palpitations then avoid. ...Read more
How can I shake my health anxiety? I'm convinced I have heart disease, though I have no risk factors besides being over weight. Palpitations are scary.
Take control of diet: I think you should channel your energy into constructively changing your lifestyle to include healthy food and exercise options. If you take control of your life and make healthy decisions, you will start to feel much better about your health and wellness. In this way you will understand the power of your own decision making. I believe your anxiety will improve if you do this. Think positively. ...Read more
Can anxiety induced palpitations cause a fatal heart attack? 26 years old. No known heart issues. I am an on/off smoker though and slightly overweight
Could obesity itself cause constant tachycardia (fast heart rate, even resting), heart flutters, and palpitations?
Ectopic beats?: Everybody's heart does a flipflip once in a while, more in caffeine users; we call this a premature ventricular contraction and unless you have more than 5 per minute, or a run of them, or have pain or faint, it's a non-problem. If by flutter you mean episodes of the heart racing and perhaps taking your breath away, it's probably supraventricular tachycardia. Ask your physician. Good luck. ...Read more
May not be a problem: Some people feel their heart beat, even when it's beating normally, like in a quiet environment. If there are episodic irregular beats, for whatever reason, those sensations can be magnified. Stress or fear, anxiety, caffeine can be benign causes, but medications (including over the counter) and diseases can create "flutters". Best to talk to your doctor for an ecg, ? Holter, ? Event monitor. ...Read more
