The consensus is that ripe bananas in moderation help treat constipation but unripe bananas &/or lots of bananas worsen constipation. Another idea is that if you are "cold" from a chinese medicine perspective then bananas will worsen constipation, but if you have "excess heat" then bananas will help. Moderation: Eating fruits are generally allowed with diabetes or prediabetes, but you should not go overboard with the amount. Typically 3-4 fruit servings daily is okay. You can always take a fiber supplement (metamucil, fibercon, etc) to help with the constipation. If you check your sugar 2 hours after eating and it is above 180, you need to cut back on the fruit. ...Read more
