Does Azithromycin Help Remove Tonsile Stones
Azithromycin (zithromax, azithrocin, zmax, azin) is an azalide, a subclass of macrolide antibiotics. Azithromycin is one of the world's best-selling antibiotics.[not in citation given (see discussion.)] it is derived from erythromycin, with a methyl-substituted nitrogen atom incorporated into the lactone ring, thus making ...Read more
Easy to manage: A mirror, a water pick, a penlight, and steady hands are all you need to manage tonsil stones. If you try to use a half-unbent paper clip instead, don't hurt yourself. An ENT physician can laser the tonsils and help prevent stones. They are actually masses of keratin and can be uncomfortable and smelly, but they pose zero danger. An antibiotic isn't indicated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Have 2 days left of Azithromycin susp.. Tonsils are still swollen, no pain ... Any reason abx haven't helped???
Tonsillitis: Greetings. The antibiotic may actually be working. A tonsillitis may be best treated with a different antibiotic but they will not necessarily reduce the size quickly. Antiinflammatory medications such as ibuprofen will help. Rinse/gargle with water after meals to help remove bacteria/debris. If after you complete your course, follow up with your family doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

They are sometimes part of a bad breath problem. As you note, antibiotics are not the correct treatment for them. ...Read more
Was prescribed azithromycin and prednisone for swollen tonsils, not strep or mono, almost 3 days and haven't seen much improvement ?
Could be virus: Not every tonsil infection is bacterial. Furthermore, zithromax is not a good antibiotic for tonsillitis because it has NO effect against NTHI, a common cause of bacterial tonsillitis. Finally, you may have a viral infection. Rule out infectious mononucleosis, caused by EB virus. ...Read more
Have a hard cough, white, not clear mucus, sore throat, mucus seems to be endless and at the back of throat. Took azithromycin, still same. No tonsils?
Probab viral: Sounds like a viral infection involving sinuses, throat & lungs. While docs routinely prescribe antibiotics for sinusitis & bronchitis, research shows that antibiotics generally don't help(& may do more harm than good!). I advise pellargonium sidoides, an herb proven to help viral sinusitis & bronchitis, widely available as umcka. Also see http://homeopathyplus.Com.Au/coughs-and-how-to-treat-them/. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
