Will Ashwagandha taken daily effect my blood work done for thyroid levels to be checked? I have Hashimotos and get routine blood work. Effect levels?

Will Ashwagandha taken daily effect my blood work done for thyroid levels to be checked? I have Hashimotos and get routine blood work. Effect levels?

Not directly but...: Ashwagandha will not alter the accuracy of blood tests but it may improve thyroid function. Animal studies suggest Ashwagandha may increase levels of thyroid hormone in those who are hypothyroid while reducing levels if hyperthyroid. The effects are usually subtle so I would not expect dramatic changes. It's wise to test levels. See http://draxe.com/ashwagandha-proven-to-heal-thyroid-and-adrenals/ ...Read more

I have been dxd with subclinical hypo thyroidism. I am very tired.. How is this treated?

I have been dxd with subclinical hypo thyroidism. I am very tired.. How is this treated?

Not subclinical now: Subclinical means not clinical which means you are not having symptoms from the hypothyroidism, but you do have symptoms (tired). Thus, this is not subclincal. If you have the lab result to support hypothyroidism, along with your being tired, treating it is a reasonable course of action. Thyroid hormone replacement is quite easy and with correct dosing, side effect is rare. Consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more
