Anoscopy: An anoscope is a round piece of clear plastic that's used to look at the anus and first part of the rectum, think of it like the anal version of a vaginal speculum. It's used to look for diseases of the anus and rectum like hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and rectal cancers. Anoscopy is only able to look a few inches into the rectum. I had painful anal sex about 4 months ago, have no STIs, have pain passing stool every since. My doctor won't do an anoscopy. What should I do?

See another: First, use OTC medication as if you have a hemorrhoid. What you have is most likely a fissure, which is a tear. You need to be examined by a colorectal surgeon to determine the extent of the damages and how deep the tear is. So go and see different doctor. Meanwhile sit in a warm water in bath tub. That will relieve the pain. And make sure to keep you stool soft. ...Read more

38 yr-old w/ hemorrhoid per anoscopy. Chronic low back and right hip pain, stand at work. Consistently flat stool; could this be from muscle tension?

38 yr-old w/ hemorrhoid per anoscopy. Chronic low back and right hip pain, stand at work. Consistently flat stool; could this be from muscle tension?

Yes and maybe: Certainly, standing for a long period of time, such as at work, can result from muscle strain and be a factor in chronic low back & hip pain. Stretching/strengthening exercises should help. But "flat stool" needs more investigation in my view; hemorrhoids by themselves should not be sufficient to cause. I would ask doctor for more testing, probably flex sig or colonosocpy, to evaluate. Good luck:) ...Read more
