It depends: Hcg levels identify a pregnancy. Low levels may represent a very early pregnancy depending on how many days you are late for your expected period. You will have to have more tests to see if it doubles or not. If it decreases you had a chemical pregnancy. Talk with your OB about getting further tests to see if the pregnancy is normal. ...Read more
Luteal phase defect: Low Progesterone levels may be associated with a cause of recurrent miscarriage called a luteal phase defect and is treatable with first trimester progesterone. Extremely low progesterones and abnormal HCG levels may well be an ectopic or tubal pregnancy. Not everyone's HCG doubles every 2-3 days like we make them think. A 20% rise every 2-3 days may be normal and eventually you plateau. ...Read more
Can you have low urine hCG levels (lthan 15 or 25) and still be ovulating and having a normal cycle in frequency. Could low hCG cause heavy and long periods? (not above 25 as neg. Urine pregnant tests)

Can low hCG levels cause bleeding as the pregnancy hormone is not yet strong enough to stop the period from coming on?
No: Hcg alone cannot tell one they are going to miscarry. In early pregnancy the HCG should double every 2-3 days. If it is falling, or is not rising substantially over time, it is likely that there is a problem with the pregnancy (impending or current miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy). Once there is a visible pregnancy on ultrasound, hcgs have little value, and the ultrasound is more meaningful. ...Read more
Pregnancy: Hcg levels correspond to the age of the pregnancy. In early pregnancy levels increase exponentially as the pregnancy progresses. In a normal pregnancy, one expects the levels to increase over time. A biochemical pregnancy is a positive HCG level which does not rise as expected. When all of the trophoblast is gone (complete miscarriage) then the ncg level will return to negative. ...Read more

My beta HCG level was 30 at 12 days past ovulation. On day 14 DPO it was 83. They gynie put me on progesterone. Is my levels too low?
Progesterone: That was an appropriate increase in hcg. However, I don't give Progesterone based on hcg levels, I give it based on the Progesterone level. Some docs use Progesterone alot and of course its a waste of time to use it if the level was dropping. ...Read more

Pregnancy or tumor: Hcg is the normal hormonal product of the placenta and so levels are high in pregnancy; a urine pregnancy test looks for hcg. However some tumors also produce hcg, so a high level in a man, or in a non-pregnant woman, strongly suggests a tumor that needs to be found and treated as soon as possible. ...Read more

It depends: The earliest way to tell if you are pregnant is with an early detection pregnant test done on your first voided urine in the morning. On monday my hCG levels were 8300 today it was 8100 they also told me my progesterone levels were low and gave me meds. Is my baby going to be ok?
Doesn't look good: The general rule of thumb for Beta-HCG levels is that they should double every 48 hours. A normal pregnancy would have gone from 8000 on Monday to 16000 on Wednesday. This is Thursday, and it is going down - not a good sign for a viable pregnancy (sorry). Be careful, because this could be a tubal pregnancy! You may need an ultrasound to look for the baby. If you have pain, go in! Maybe miscarriage ...Read more
