I have canker sores in the back of my mouth chooser to the throat. Does gargling harm or help the healing process?
Helpful: Gargling with peroxide based liquids can be helpful in speeding healing. Alcohol based liquids may make it more painful as the alcohol will sting the open sores. Your best bet is a Chlorhexidine rinse you can get prescribed from your dentist. That will help kill the germs that are the main cause of the painful sores (canker sores are a secondary infection of a primary autoimmune reaction). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Can an STD in your throat cause one side to be sore, one tonsil mildly swollen, with redness on the crown of your throat, and itchy?
Sore throat: It could be especially if there is alot of pus but it is much more likely to be from another bacteria. Experiencing sore throat and nasal congestion. Can this be an std in the throat? And how does a doctor determine if it's chlamydia in throat?
Not an STD: Oral chlamydia is uncommon, and when it happens, it is not known to cause symptoms of any kind. The other STD possibilty is gonorrhea, if you recently performed oral sex on an infected partner. But almost all oral gonorrhea also causes no symptoms; and when it does, it's only sore throat, not nasal congestion. Sounds like you have a standard cold. But if potentially at risk for STD, get tested! ...Read more
