Does Amitriptyline Make You Sleepy
Given25 mg elavil (amitriptyline) on 17 th, went down to 12.5 4 days ago. Want to stop taking it, sleepy, dopey, anxious Dr not available do I taper to 6.5 or can stop?
Stop: You can stop it as the 12.5 mg is a very low dose and you should have few adverse symptoms. If you do get symptoms you could try the 6.25 a day or 12.5 mg every other day for 5-7 days. Be sure to notify your doctor of the problems you experienced with this medication.
Is 50 mg amitriptyline taken at bedtime good for chronic ankle pain? After my first dose, I'm pain free but extremely sleepy. Is that result of dose
Chronic ankle pain: Best approach is to find the cause of the chronic ankle pain and treat it at the root. Topical medications may prove to be beneficial and help avert systemic side effects. Feeling sleepy is a common side effect of Amitriptyline. Your doctor may suggest starting it at a lower dose such as 10 or 25 mg at bedtime and titrating upwards as indicated and as tolerated.
Taking propranolol 40mg, venlafaxinexr 112.75mg, amitriptyline 10mg for chronic migraine. Forgetting/confusion date, time & chores, sleepiness & fatigue?
Botox: Chronic migraine is one of the most disabling forms of headache. Your meds combo as a preventive for chronic migraine is common. The side effects are common also (yin-yang). Do not stop using this drug without first consulting your physician. You can try botox, when injected at allergan protocol, is expected to produce results lasting up to three months. This way you will need less medication.
My docs say that propranolol 60mg, venlafaxine 150mg and amitriptyline 10mg cannot cause drowsiness. But I am experiencing drowsiness, confusion etc.?
They could....: I have no doubt that the Amitriptyline can cause drowsiness, it is usually given at night with the intention of helping with sleep among other things (although you are on the lowest possible dose). Propranolol can cause drowsiness as well, the controlled -release may cause less. Venlafaxine usually is less likely to cause any drowsiness at all. Discuss with your md.See 1 more doctor answer
Gastro prescribed elavil (amitriptyline) (25mg) for crohn's/ibs. Took it in evening, knew could cause drowsiness. Slept 14 hrs & exhausted. Better way to take it?
Typically not: There are some diet medications that are prescription only. They usually don't make you sleepy, but some people can have this effect. It is unusual. I can't speak specifically (don't know which one your referring to) about non-prescription products, but, in general, should not make you sleepy.
They can: Antibiotics in general are well tolerated and most of the side effects are related to gastrointestinal symptoms. However as with any medications you take, side effects can vary from person to person and need to be addressed with your prescribing physician if they were to occur.
It can cause: Sedation in some people but others handle it well.See 1 more doctor answer
