Can short term memory loss be caused by traumatic experiences, stress grief. Is losing your memory permament or as depression lifts it will return?
It should return: Unless there is a physical (vascular) problem, your memory should return and you can help this process by what you do. Seeking supportive psychotherapy and/or practicing something like mindful meditation may be useful. The: The recent study you are most likely alluding to does not establish an actual cause and effect relationship. It is not known if the sleep medications cause increased risk or if people who are at increased risk are just the people who tend to use these medications. No depression, but..: I am not aware of any studies indicating a correlation between chronic zolpidem use and major depression.
