Does Alcohol Affect Female Sex Drive
Alcohol: Drinking and sex do not mix no matter what stories you hear.
Yes: Most definitely.Get a more detailed answer ›
Possible, but...: Usually it is the other way around. Alcohol can kill your interest in sex (or at least your performance), & often stopping drinking --> regaining interest in lots of things including sex. Perhaps the emotions that are coming up, if numbed by alcohol, are now interfering with your sex drive. If you are in a program, ask about this. If not, seek a therapist who specializes in early recovery.
I'm 33, female & my libido has disappeared over the last 3 of years. Not depressed, no porn addiction, no history drug/alcohol abuse. Please help..

Care for yourself: Take care of yourself physically and mentally. Exercise, eat well, love yourself and how you look. Make sure that you are having sex with someone who helps you feel beautiful. Ask your doctor about it the next time you go. There could be lots of different reasons you have a low sex drive. Best wishes.
See below: Your profile says you're 39 y.o., but in any case, address this issue with your primary care doctor to figure out the causes/ reasons. Once you've done that, you can discuss with your physician the steps to be taken. Good luck!
No sex drive/libido: Whether 24yo as you ask or 46yo as you're listed, no sex drive is a common concern in women (as it is in men). Sex hormones can play a role but they're further down the road than many would believe. Instead, look for stress in various forms whether (graduate) school, work, finances, religion, culture, family etc. Positive affirming relationship is helpful. Depression isn't. Review meds w/your doc.
Many reasons.: A healthy libidio is normal for both men and women, and is influenced by many factors. The primary influence is neurohormonal, especially levels of androgenic hormones like testosterone. There is evidence that sexual desire is increased around age 30 for women, and can be correlated with the menstrual cycle. Many psychological & physical factors have influence as well.See 1 more doctor answer
Need to see your Dr.: There are many medical causes for lack of sex drive including hormonal such as under active thyroid gland, low levels of sex hormones. Might be related to obesity if UR significantly overweight or could be psychological. Depression is invariably associated with lack of sex drive. Good Luck
Sex Drive / Interest: I understand your concern for decreased sex drive and interest. Sex Drive and interest depends upon hormones and stressors affecting the life from childhood and teenage years. Unstable home environment, physical and sexual abuse, incest, unstable relationship with boyfriends, multiple relationships, dishonesty, lack of commitment and insecurity can effect sex drive and interest. See a Therapist.
Need to know more: Lots of variables: did decreased libido just begin (think: acute illness, such as depression; other physical illness; medications; illicit drugs); or has it been there long-term (some people have low libido chronically). Start with a discussion w/ your primary care md or ob/gyn, followed by phys exam and certain blood studies. If there is psych illness, consult a psychiatrist.

If there is: No physical problem (see gynecologist) , there are therapists that have been a help to some of my patients.
Female. Had high libido between 16-18 y/o. I'm 19 now & I loss my libido. What happened to me? Is it abnormal to have low sex drive as a teen?
Could be due to: age, your partner or just normal aging process. Getting older and maturing might be calming you down. Its very hard to say. People's idea of low and high vary too. What is high for you sex every night? and low is now sex once a week, which might be perfectly normal. Try not to panic and accept yourself for who you are and find a partner who does too. Good luck. See a counselor for information ide
Must be a reason: Making 40 for a women generally isn't a reason for loss of sex drive. Just having children, economical or emotional stress, conflict in personal or family relationships, active or chronic medical problems, recent or past trauma or loss, being without a regular partner, undiagnosed mental health problems all can affect libido. Has some past sexual trauma come to light? Talk to your doctor.See 2 more doctor answers
None FDA-approved: Some companies are studying testosterone for use in increasing female sex drive but fda hasn't approved this yet. However, your family doc can prescribe testosterone gel/cream to be compounded at compounding pharmacy just for you. This might work if your t is low. But if you're not in a healthy relationship, no drug will help.
