Was taking Metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis but it caused severe itching and a foul odour. Does it mean I have a yeast fungal infection instead?

Was taking Metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis but it caused severe itching and a foul odour. Does it mean I have a yeast fungal infection instead?

Maybe, probably not: Yeast infections cause itching but usually not odor. Probably the odor is from the BV itself, even if first noticed after starting treatment. But regardless of odor, the itching could indicate a yeast infection. Allergy to metronidazole unlikely but possible. You also need to be checked for other STDs like gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomonas if not yet done. Discuss with your doctor or clinic. ...Read more

Could it be a yeast infection or herpes outbreak with no odor or discharge but itchy clitoris? Could I even have an allergic reaction to something?

Could it be a yeast infection or herpes outbreak with no odor or discharge but itchy clitoris? Could I even have an allergic reaction to something?

Itchy private areas: I think you are right on track -this could well be an allergy to something, and I would want to know if you tried any new feminine products, detergents/soaps etc. Certainly fungus likes moist areas and could cause these symptoms. Herpes is usually PAINFUL and would be much less likely. If symptoms don't get better in a day or two, I'd want u to see your gyn or primary doc for a definite diagnosis. ...Read more

Had yeast infection 3 wks ago, discharge is still slightly green and has a strong odor but is not foul. Itchy every so often. Could it still be Y.I?

BV? STD?: Yeast infections usually cause only a little discharge, or none; yeast discharge usually is white, not colored; and yeast discharges don't have strong odor. So this is something else. Bacterial vaginosis (an overgrown of bacteria) is possible, but so are STDs like trichomonas, gonorrhea, or chlamydia. See a doctor very soon for testing and treatment. Good luck! ...Read more

Dr gave me duflican for yeast infection took duflican 4 days ago, still have some discharge and a slight fishy odor is Odor normal? It's not to strong

BV? Trichomonas?: The main vaginal yeast symptoms are irritation and itching, scant discharge, without odor. Fishy odor suggests bacterial vaginosis or trichomonas. Maybe it wasn't yeast, or you had yeast plus BV or trich. It can be difficult to diagnose vaginal infections, so probably not your doc's fault. Return to be rechecked; request the newer, more accurate DNA test for trich if not yet done. Also STD tests. ...Read more
